I need some advice..

Hi all! I am not so happy to say I am back, but here I am.. My new RE wanted to do a investigative cycle, so at day 14, I still had a cyst on my right side (amost 6cm) and then a follicle that was growing on the same side. They asked me to purchase the ovidrel on day 12, because by the size of the egg, it would be ready in a few days.. So, I did. Then on day 14, they told me that my hormones were spiking and to "have fun" for the next three nights. I expressely told the nurse that I DO NOT OVULATE without the shot, and she told me not to take it, that my hormones are spiking, so it will happen on it's own.. But, I explained that that always happens to me, but the egg never ends up coming out. Well, ever since then I have been taking my temperature (amost a week) and I have seen no spike in my temperature, which makes me wonder if I was right yet again.. What would you do? Call them and ask for a scan and see if it came out? Check the progesterone levels? I don't understand why no one is listening to me. I have been doing this for 4 years! I think I would know my body by now.. Should I take charge and call them? Would you? I don't want to get my hopes up for nothing.. I have a beta scheduled for the 20th, but it seems pointless if nothing happened... Thanks for any advice you can give..

I would for sure call them. What CD are you on now? If you around the CD21 I would ask for a progestone test. I would also schedule an U/S. Hopefully you will be pleasantly suprised that you "o"ed but if not, they need to see what is going on with you so they can get it right next cycle. Just my opinion.

Good luck!!

Hey AmyK! Thanks for the response.. I am on CD 19 of a forced cycle, because I had surgery on May 29th, and never got a period after that thanks to a cyst.. So, they forced me to have a period... So, I have a sneaking suspicion that I didn't ovulate.. Just crazy.. Why do they not listen??? They must think I'm stupid or something.. I am dying to know if I did or not, so I don't get my hopes up for nothing, know what I mean?

Maybe since this is an investigative cycle, they want to see what you do naturally ... ? They really should be communicating with you more though. If this is why they're not using the shot, you'd think they would want to do an u/s or a progesterone test to find out whether you ovulated on your own or not. They might want to rule out things they thought your other RE wasn't thorough about or perhaps just to get a good sense of what your body does since they are just starting with you and don't want to make false assumptions. I would definately call them! I have my RE's email, which I love. It is the easiest way to get questions answered quick when they have a moment. Maybe you can see if that's an option in the future. Best of luck to you!

I'm irritated...

Good morning ladies.. Thanks for your replies.. Well, I followed your advice and called them about the day 21 progesterone test.. Well, the lady was confused when I asked her to get the progesterone tested.. She said, "we don't normally test that, so if you want it tested, you can go to your family doctor".. I was like WTF? Then she said, "we test it if it is an investigative cycle".. I told her that I was on an investigative cycle, and so she said, "Ok! Then you should book one.." Insert an extreme eye roll here.. So, I got it tested, and she calls me and says, "well, everything is OK, but it's a little low".. So I asked her what the level was and she said it was 0.7. So, I told her, "well, obviously I was right and I didn't ovulate!!!" She said, "well, you had an LH surge so you did ovulate, but your progesterone levels are low.." I swear, I felt like beating my head against the wall. I told her before that that is exactly what happens. My hormones rise, but the egg never comes out without that shot. So, that's exactly what happened, again. What a bunch of crap that I know what needs to happen more than the doctors do.. I'm so P.O'd.. She said she would talk to the doctor and ask him if he wanted me to take progesterone support.. I'm like, WTF? Why would I take progesterone if I didn't even ovulate? A normal level after ovulation for me is somewhere between 5-30. I'm at 0.7 which is where the level should be in the first part of your cycle, not during the second part. Plus I had no temperature rise. So, this month was all for nothing again. Why don't people listen to me? I'm sorry to vent ladies, but my patience with this whole situation is running extremely low.... Bad day today.. Plus last night, I went to a funeral for a young boy who was shot to death last Friday on my street.. He was only 16.. So friggin sad, and I felt so bad for his parents.. Senseless and stupid. So, I'm having a bad ladies ladies.. Thanks for letting me vent..

Ouch. Sounds like you are having a bad week. I am sorry about the 16 yr old, too sad.

As far as your RE, I think you need to schedule an appointment to talk with him face to face to discuss this. if they are not open to working with you about your body thenI think it is to time to move on. I know this is already a new RE for you, but better not to waste any more time/money there. I am sorry.

I agree 100% with Amy...and on another note, I would talk to the Dr. about trying it next time for free/discounted since they sort of screwed up this cycle for you...imo.

Thanks for the ladies.. Did I ever need that! Well, I go for the stupid beta tomorrow, and for what reason, I'll never know. I waited for the doctor to call me back that day and she said that they wanted to wait and see if I was pregnant first before giving me progesterone supplements.. WTF? Am I the only one who is confused by all of this? Is it possible that I know more than the nurse? Obviously, I didn't ovulate.. End of story, move on. Why do I have to keep waiting, and for stuff that I know didn't/isn't going to happen? My goodness, I feel like screaming! Because this is a new RE, I will give him the opportunity to defend the clinic the next time I talk to him. If I am still not satisfied, I will move on. Luckily, I didn't pay for anything this cycle besides the medication which was covered by insurance still (but not for much longer).. How are you ladies doing?
