I went to the RE today for the first time after 4 failed IUI's with my OB. The RE said that I test for my LH surge and the day I get my surge I should then give myself the trigger shot. Then we'll do the IUI the next day.
Has anyone else done this? I've always given myself the shot once my follies were bigger than 18cm and then the IUI two days later.

When I was unmedicated, I would wait for surge and have IUI next day. All of my medicated cycles have been monitored. I would take trigger after u/s and b/w showed mature follies. All RE's have different ways of doing things. If it shows a surge and you trigger, I guess thats extra insurance that you will ovulate. Are you going in to be monitored as to how many follies?

With my OB I got ultrasounds the days leading up to ovulation. Unfortunately my RE is 2 hrs away (I live in a small town). So normally he would do ultrasounds, but he said b/c of the distance I'll have an ultrasound the day I go in for the IUI just to make sure we're on track.

My RE does my scan to see where the follies are. Based off that, they give me a timeline on how they will grow per day, etc. I then do the trigger and then IUI 36 hours after that. I am always concerned about the timing of it all. I think this month I will keep doing the OPKs and BBT to confirm the trigger is working correctly.
