This is my third month of Clomid. The first month on 50 mg., no ovulation. Second month, 100 mg. and I ovulated two eggs. This month my RE increased my dose to 150 mg. and I only had one measurable follie of 11 mm on CD10. I thought that increasing your dose of Clomid usually causes more follies to grow, not less.

Has anyone else had this problem? Could the follies be maturing slower this time? Any insight would be much appreciated.

I am feeling frustrated and a little defeated, even though I know I have to stay positive.

Hi Team H- Sorry to hear you're not having much luck. Maybe you just don't react well to the clomid. I know there are other oral meds out there and maybe you can try injectibles? What did your RE say about everything?

I have to go back in on Thursday for an ultrasound to see how things are progressing. My lining is thin too, so he increased my Estrace from two tablets per day to two tablets orally and two tablets vaginally. Fun, fun, fun.

We have not discussed injectibles yet b/c I responded last time to the Clomid. I really am not sure what the next step will be b/c he only recommended three IUIs before we move on to IVF. If this cycle does not work out, then next month would probably be our last IUI unless he has another suggestion.

Obviously I would rather not go to the IVF route b/c of the expense - my insurance does not cover.

I had the same thing happen to me. The first month I had two follies but after that, only one. I had smaller ones, but I would always get one dominant follie that would take over.

I just moved onto Gonal-f and can say I am much happier. It is a big expense but none of the problems. My lining was great and I had 4 follies (with a few smaller ones).

Just an idea if you need it next month. In the meantime do not give up on this cycle yet. I know it is hard when you want more than one follie. You need to not think of it as JUST one and start thinking it as THE one!! If you go through the BFPs stats on the sticky at the top of this board, there are plenty of BFPs from 1 follie.

Thanks Amy. I just have to get through this cycle, see how it goes and then find out from my RE what we plan to do next month.

How much do the injectibles cost?

I used 900iu total (and alot of prayer that I wouldn't need to order more!) and I think it was around $725. A big step up from the clomid, but none of the clomid side effects. Wish I would have tried it earlier.

I will still pray that you won't need to worry about it!

I guess it is still cheaper than IVF.

Good luck in your 2ww. I went crazy last month trying to read into all my symptoms.

If the one follie grows , then my IUI should probably be Saturday and Sunday.

That happened to me...just look at my signature. I remember hearing somewhere that clomid is not good to be on for too long b/c it starts not to work and starts to have a negative impact on the lining of your uterus.

Hi Mima! I was wondering how you were doing too. When is your RE appt.?

I am doing so so. This cycle has been challenging. Not only did the increase in Clomid cause me to be sick (threw up and was nauseated the entire time I took it) my body did not respond well to it. I had my CD13 u/s yesterday and there are follies, but they are small. So my doctor started me on Follitism 75 mg. once a day and I am supposed to go back on Sunday for an u/s and b/w to check hormones and follies. I really pray that this will get me to ovulate. I would hate to miss a cycle. I think when you don't have to deal with IF issues, a month goes by fast. When you are, it seems to move a snails pace.

This is only my third month on Clomid, so I am surprised that it is not working as well, especially since I responded well last month. My lining was a little thin but my doctor doubled my dose of Estrace and it is now looking pretty good. It was 8+ mm. on my last u/s.
