iui success stories...and not so successful?!

so i have pcos and i take metformin 2500 mg a day. I in no way have regular periods, but i seem to ovulate sometimes. I have had 5 m/c- chem pregnancies...and the doctor wants me on clomid and the possibility of an iui. Hubby doesnt have the best swimmers so we are gonna see how this works...

i looked up and down this site for info to see if someone has successfully concieved 1st with the iui, and 2nd ly i want to see what of those had twins or at least concieved twins...

when i get to the nitty gritty of what i am looking for, i want to see how fast people concieved doing clomid and iui. Any other info will help and i would love it if someone was in a similur situation as me and has a success story for me!

i want the good bad and ugly...gimme numbers people! lol

Hi AC

I also have PCOS and take 1000mg metformin daily along with 0.25mg dexamethasone. I do not have regular periods at all and it seems I rarely (if ever) ovulate on my own.

My doctor initially put me on clomid + IUI and it worked okay the first month (I developed 2 follicles, ovulated and then menstruated all on a pretty normal timetable). Unfortunately I didn't get pregnant.

We did the same thing for my second cycle, but unfortunately I didn't develop any mature follicles so the cycle was canceled. Since I didn't ovulate, my period was very late but it did eventually come on its own.

My third cycle they switched me to femara, another oral medication similar to clomid, and I developed two very large follicles. We had IUI done and I ovulated but much to my disappointment, I didn't get pregnant again and my period showed up right on time.

I'm about to do my fourth cycle (third IUI total and second IUI with femara) and I'm praying that it works this time. It's been a very long, difficult and emotionally exhausting four months and I can't believe it's only been that long.

The road ahead of you isn't easy - but the support you will find here is invaluable. I suggest you do a lot of reading, the information you will come across will really help to prepare you for the battle ahead.

And take heart, many - many women here have successfully concieved with clomid and IUI, sometimes on the first try, and other times, it takes longer. Read the BFP Status thread at the top of the page, it will really give you some hope.

to our little family.

- Angel

I have a positive outcome from my iui experience. But I too was on clomid (Serephene) and Metformin, but they added to my mix the femera. I had been on that combination for a while before the IUI, but they uped the clomid to 100 mg per day for 5 days. The femera i took three pill on the first day I took the clomid. I had only one egg that was considered mature at the time of IUI. But lucky for us that one was all it took. So the thing to take away from all this is that it is possible that a different set of drugs can help. Don't lose hope!!!
