Please read...thought I got AF but really didn't??

Hi all,

Sunday was CD29 and 17Dpiui...I had cramping for about an hour in the early morning and I started bleeding. I thought AF was here, so I even posted a message to my IUI thread saying I was out and taking a break for a couple of months. Well, Sunday I probably only went through half of a pad and it wasn't soaked. Monday, hardly any bleeding at all. There was nothing on the pad, it was only there when I wiped and it was very light. By Tuesday, I had stopped bleeding completely. I have never had such a short period before.

I called RE, who had me come in on Wednesday. I did a urine test and a blood test, both came back negative. RE did an ultrasound, and found my lining to be 8.4 and I had a large corpus luteus cyst on my right side of 36x30.

Went back to RE today, my lining had increased to 10.2!! However, the cyst shrank to 16. RE didn't order another blood test, but told me to call on Monday. He said, "You're probably going to get your period this weekend, so call me on Monday. Oh, and don't drink any alcohol this weekend because you might be pregnant. What happened on Sunday, wasn't your period because there's no way your lining would be this thick."

Basically, I'm like WTF is going on!! Could I possibly be pregnant? The bleeding I had on Sunday, wouldn't that be too late for implantation? Plus I've read it's more like spotting and although this didn't last long, I wouldn't consider it spotting. And why is my lining so thick? This is all too confusing. I need to know one way or another what's going on! Now I have to suffer through the weekend, waiting.

I'm sorry this is a novel, but I'm so frustrated. I needed to vent and I need some insight as to what you ladies think. Thanks!

OMG I completely understand your confusion!!! On 7/26, I began bleeding, much like the first day of my . It was far more than what I would continue to be spotting. I was bummed, so I had a strawberry margarita, but the next day, I called the nurse to set up my cycle day 3 scan for Tuesday, and made an appointment to follow up with my doctor on August 10th to come up with a plan should the IUI in August not work, I wanted to discuss IVF. I was surprsingly okay with that month's IUI not working. When I went in to the dr's office for the cycle day 3 scan, I not only had the fellow in there doing the scan, but one of the attending physicians as well, as she was training the new fellow. She asked me if my flow was like a normal period. I said it was kind of, but not really. It was heavier than spotting, but not quite my normal flow. I also told her I was surprised AF showed up then, because I didn't have ANY PMS and I usually have it pretty bad. She got a smile on her face and said "HMMMMM". They did the scan and they saw a cyst on my ovary, but it wasn't too big. When she was done with the scan, she looked at me and said " I am really not kidding you, I think you may be pregnant, can you go leave us a urine sample?" UM excuse me did you NOT just see what was coming out of me down there?! That was not spotting!!! But anyways, I went and left a urine sample, and low and behold it came back negative. But, in addition to checking my estradiol level, she added a beta. I got the call later that afternoon, and was told my beta was 6.6!! They said my beta was either on the way up or the way down, and to come back on Friday for another one.

Well the next two days I bled SO heavily, I thought for sure the beta was on the way down. I almost didn't go in for my beta on Friday, but I did...and it came back at 12!!! How the heck is that even possible!!!! Well, to shorten the story, the beta has been climbing ever since and I go in for my first ultrasound on Monday!!! My advice to you...HANG IN THERE!!!! And don't drink. If the doctor thinks you may be pregnant, I think that there is a good possibility that you are. I know it's frustrating not knowing what is happening...believe me...been there! There is hope though!!!!!! Please let me know what your results are....I'm pulling for you!!!

Thanks Charlie's mom!!

Wow!!! Thank you so much for sharing that! I'm so glad to know that this has happened to someone else and that there is a slight chance I could be pregnant. I also did not have my usual PMS signs so I thought it a little weird. My RE kept repeating today, "I've never seen this before, I've never seen someone at this stage in the cycle with a lining so thick." I still don't feel like I'm getting my period. I am extremely exhausted though.

I'm really happy for you with your beta numbers. It really shows me that anything is possible. I'll definitely keep you updated. Thank you again for sharing this. it gives me a little hope
