DMR74 - I hope that you're feeling better soon!

Hockeygrl - My RE told us to try 3 or 4. He said that it takes them 1 to 2 cycles to figure out the proper dosage of medication since it's different for everyone. My hubby and I have decided yet, but I think we're both leaning towards 3 then break before IVF.

Allij- I'm doing Gonal-F too. This is my 2nd cycle. Lots of appointments for BW and U/S. Hope your appointment this morning went well!

Dylansmommy- good luck to you too!

Today is CD7 for me so I had my first blood draw. The RE upped my dosage from 75 to 112.5 (I only have one ovary) and boy has it made a difference! Last month I only ovulated one egg which resulted in a . This time last month, my e2 was at 72. Today...356!

Grow follies, grow!!

Thanks for your answers to my question. Looks like pretty much everyone here is going to an RE. I'm still with my GYN and DH has a urologist that specializes in male infertility. His Dr has been very helpful along the way. I sometimes wonder if we shouldn't have gone straight to an RE, but from reading everyone else's posts it seems my GYN is doing the same stuff for with/for me as an RE would. Also if DH's Dr thought we should move to an RE I know he would say so. Last week DH's Dr said we needed to make a plan for when to move from IUI to IVF. We told him what we had talked about (trying 4 IUI's) and he was good with that. He's only worried because of my age. He said if we had another 10 years he wouldn't be so concerned. Sorry for rambling.

allijbutler
- If IUI doesn't work will your insurance pay for IVF? May I ask why you were going to jump right to IVF? Insurance companies have too much say in things they don't know anything about. It sucks that they can dictate what type of treatment. I'm hoping we don't have to go with IVF. DH has been talking about adoption and I'm not sure about that yet either. Guess I'm trying to keep hope that we can have our own.

dylansmommy
- Hoping your first "shot" results in a bullseye.

Lindy123 - My DH and I will take a break too before IVF if IUI doesn't work. I told him I don't want to be an emotional wreck during the holidays.

Truckloads of to everyone!!

Hi,

I am new to the board and wanted to join in. My name is Linda. I have a DD who is 2 1/2. I lost my other daughter last January when I was 36 weeks pregnant.

I have been on Clomid and Femara and did my first IUI last cycle which was a . I am on Femara and hope to have the second IUI with this cycle. I'm really debating whether or not this should be our last try. I am 39 and a part of me just wants to move on. I am lucky that I have a daughter already and am willing to accept what is....

Good luck everyone !

Linda

Itemplin! I am sorry to hear about your baby girl. I know that must have been difficult for you to get through. But I am glad to see that you are pressing forward.

Hockeygrl - I totally agree with you on the Insurance Business. It is ridiculous all the money that we put into insurance (we pay almost $400 a month for just my husband and I) and then when it is time to use it, they don't want to give you the go ahead. My insurance covers IVF with a lifetime maximum of $100,000 with 3 attempts per live birth. From what the billing office at my RE's office says, it is really good insurance. So after reviewing my medical history with my RE (miscarriage at 20 weeks due to IC and Placenta Accreta - 2 Emergency D&C's) we wanted to take some of the risk of high order multiples out of the equation. That is why we opted for IVF. At least that was our plan til we started on the lupron and then I recieved a letter from the Insurance company about the claim being denied. I appealed and of course they denied again and told me to start with IUI. So here we are...

So needless to say we are hoping and praying that this is our 1st and only but if all of the IUI's fail after 3 attempts we will be moving straight to Plan A, again...

Lindy123 - Thanks! The nurse said that my E2 levels were good and to remain on the 150iu. I have another appointment for b/w and u/s in the am. I have to drive about 45 minutes away for each appt and at 6:15am, that is a mighty long drive. When do you go back for more poking and proding?

All Around!!!

Hey ladies. My last day of clomid!! Grow follies! I needed to get the results of my pap this week or my cycle was going to be cancelled. The OB/GYN nurse was on vacation for the last week and so I was freaking out. I finally heard from her today so no more worries. Whew.

Hockeygrl-Welcome! I plan to try just one IUI before going onto IVF byt my situation is a little different. Hopefully you won't have to do 4:-)

dylansmommy-thanks and good luck to you!
Lindy123-wow! what a difference! I'll find out mine this Saturday.

Itempline-Welcome! I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. That must have been so difficult. I send you lots of

Hello Everyone,

I took a two cycles off after my 4th failed (unmedicated) IUI. I was an emotional wreck. I have since regrouped and am ready to give it another go. This time, I've opted for a medicated cycle.

Today is CD 7. Below is my regimen:
CD 3-7 Clomid
CD 7-11 Bravelle Injection
U/S on 9/4 to determine HCG Trigger date.

I'm starting to get excited about my upcoming IUI just as I did with my first unmedicated IUI. I'm just trying to stay cool about it.

Babydust to all!

Allij- Went in this morning again for more b/w and 1st u/s of the cycle. She said my levels yesterday earned me the trip early! My u/s today showed four follies at 13, 13, 14, 14 so all is going well so far! It's almost an hour drive for me too. I work FT too so I get up at the crack of dawn to make it and am so tired. At least I really only have one week per cycle where I'm going there every other day (this month is every day as I have to go back tomorrow morning). Tomorrow I have a 7:30AM meeting that I HAVE to attend/present at so I have no choice but to do a 6:30AM appt which means a 4:30AMish wake time. I'm just it works this month!!

My insurance doesn't cover IVF at all so at approx $12-15K per cycle, I'm not sure how many/if at all we'll be able to do it. I live in MI and coverage isn't state mandated.

to everyone!!

BabyShim!! I am glad that you have recooperated from the previous cycle. And I am throwing heaping handfuls of your way! This is OUR month!!! I am on cd7 too! So good luck with those injections! You don't have to do any mixing or anything do you? I have the Gonal F pen so it is pretty much point and click with that. I am dreading that ridiculously large needle for my PIO shots, though. The things that we go through for beauty and babies, right!?

Lindy123 - I feel your pain sister! These early am appointments are not for the faint of heart! That is awesome about your follies! Good Night!!! You've got some big ones! I know yesterday was your cd7 and your follies are ginormous compared to mine. I was a little upset this morning when the Ultrasound tech said that I have lots of little guys but none that were measurable or larger than 1cm. Then I asked the nurse if that was normal and she was a little hesistant and said that it was and who knows, my nurse may call me this afternoon to increase the dosage of the Gonal-F depending on my E2 level. Which gave me the indication that it might not be so normal. Then again, what is normal?! So we will see...

How about them Duggars? They are expecting their 19th child! Unbelievable! Maybe we should bottle up some of that water in Arkansas and sell it so that we won't have to go through all of this craziness! Who's with me? We could make a fortune!

Correction...The nurse said that the follicles are immeasurable because they are less than 10mm in size but I am hoping that changes with tomorrow's appointment!

Hi Everyone,

Starting my second round w/injectibles. We are still doing TI, but hope you don't mind me hanging around with you IUIers because I **should** be triggering with all of you if all goes well this month.

Lindy, I'm from Mi, too. Just watched my friends in Ohio have twins via IVF, all covered by the state. Hoping we don't have to go that route, but saving our $$ just in case.

Back on the Menopur tonight. I was really enjoying those needle-free days....but all worth it in the long run, right?!?!?

Francesca13! ! ! You are so right about it all being worth it in the end! My husband said he is going to remind me of all of this when I have to go through those sleepless nights of getting up and down with the baby. I say I because I am convinced that my husband can sleep through anything.

skyhope - Cycle buddy!! On the clomid, do you have to go in for daily monitoring or is it just the one appointment on Labor Day to check out everything? Are you going to trigger or do you ovulate on your own?

Well, the nurse called and gave me the update. It seems that my E2 has dropped from 121 (yesterday) to 103 (today) so I will be increasing my dosage of Gonal F for the next 2 nights to 225. Yikes! The only good thing about the phone call today was her telling me that I won't have another dr's appt til Friday Morning. So I get to sleep in (past 6) in the am!!! <<Sorry Lindy123>>> I will be sending good thoughts your way as you are hitting your alarm clock @ 4:30am! I kid, I kid...I am sure that you will be fine at the meeting in the morning. I hope the increased dosage leads to a better response by Friday morning...

ltemplin & BabyShim

ltemplin - So sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been/be for you. I'm also 39 and feel like I'm running out of time.

allijbutler - Hoping IUI #1 works for you. About the Duggars - can't they just stop already. They are going to be grandparents next month. UGH! I'm more for getting myself some of that water and not making money from it - I just want a baby already.

shannobananno - glad you were able to get your results so your cycle wasn't canceled. I don't know why only one person at the office can get those for you. I'm not very patient and probably would have bugged the office everyday until someone got them for me.
BabyShim - sending loads of that your upcoming IUI is successful.

Lindy123 - Sucks that MI doesn't mandate fertility treatments on insurance. One other reason I can be happy to have moved to CA from MI. I'm glad I don't have to get up as early as you and a few others to get treatment. I like my sleep. I'm so bad that my next appt is at noon even though a 9 am was available. I hate the traffic out here in the mornings and will be getting home late the night before my appt so I didn't want to feel rushed if we are later than planned getting home. Hope this cycle is the ONE for you.

skyhope - I hope the IUI works for you and you won't need IVF. I'm also hoping that for me and the rest of us. I started my Clomid yesterday. I think it's having a cumulative effect. This is my 3rd time taking it and I was still having hot flashes and feeling nauseous before starting it again last night.

Francesca13 - As I mentioned to Lindy I'm originally from MI. I never had to look into fertility coverage when I was there thankfully. Hope you won't have to save for too long and you get a soon.

AFM - I started Clomid last night and can't wait to stop taking it. It seems to hang around in my system for a long time. I was still having side effects the last dose when I started the current dose.
