Logyn, you have a good memory and it seems like you read all posts very carefully. When i read your post, I new it was mine; nobody else is using all those wired phrases.
Sadie, I agree that clomid increases chances, but only if you ovulate with more then one follicle. Otherwise, it's still same chances. Timing, timing, timing.....I got after first cycle with clomid, but had only one follicle. And I knew that my previous cycles were so far away from good timing. On the other hand, clomid is not usually the first option, and the more successful we are, the more times we try. So it's not neccessary the clomid, which gives us higher chances but what RE and us learn based on our previous cycles. In my case clomid didn't help but we learnt based on so many posts that CLOMID = HIGHER # OF MATURE FOLLICLES = HIGHER SUCCESS RATE. Good Luck
Nelly, do you continue to test AF?

Hello ladies,

Well I went to RE yesterday and I was sooo nervous. My mind could not concentrate on anything else and I would just cry. I was praying to God that I would get ok news. I guess I did.

I got there and he had my HSG results on his computer screen and he showed me my tubes, uterus, ovaries, and where the dye went it. He told me that he still thinks I can get pregnant! He said HSG tests are not always 100% accurate. That the procedure depends on the radiologist and how skilled they are. Sometimes they don't put enough of the dye in. Also the tube may clamp down, thus causing what they call a spasm. He said 50% of the time, the tube is not even blocked. He also did not mention anything that I may have hydrosalpinx. He also said IVF is not an option for me right now.

He said we can do a few more IUI's. Maybe even with injectibles, but before putting down so much money, he wants to make sure everything is ok inside. So, I am having laparoscopy surgery on the 25th of this month. He had a cute way of putting things for me. He said," Here is a woman (me) who has not had sperm in her body." You have had 2 IUI's with ds." Does it normally take 2 months for a fertile couple to concieve?" I said , no, not really." He said, exactly!" My RE made me feel so much better and there is still hope. Now I have to leave it in God's hands. I hope and the tube is NOT blocked and I don't have anything else wrong with me!!

Hope everyone else is great!

Thank you for all your positive messages!!

Raquel that is a great way to look at it. Sometimes I get so impatient thinking about how long it could take with ds that I forget that it can take healthy couples 6 months or more to conceive. The money situation doesn't help though, I would be a lot more relaxed if this was free! ;-)

Hi ladies

I haven't been here in a while. I just thought I would come by and say hi to everyone.

Hi everyone!!!

I had my hysteroscopy last week and everything went well. Yesterday I spoke with my RE and he said that he removed a fibroid instead of a polyp.
From my understanding a fibroid is a tumor of the wall of the uterus and a polyp is a tumor of the lining of the uterus. Regardless..........the word tumor is just horrible.
He did easy my mind by saying that the pathology report came back clean and that it was a benign tumor. So I'm very happy about it

DH had an appointment with his Endo yesterday and everything is great with him.
DH is 47XXY and he's been on testosterone shots for a little over a year now.
Apparently he has a little too much testosterone. We've been told to reduce his shots to half a cc bi-weekly since his blood test showed that he had a little too much in his system.

I'm currently on BCP and I have a post op appt with my RE on the 10th. I hope that I can go on vacation and once we get back we can jump right back on the trying wagon.

I see lots of activities here. I have to catch up and then I can post some personals.
You ladies are great

Wanessa, great news on your hysteroscopy! Hope you get a chance to go on vacation after everything!

Raquel, that is also more great news to hear from your RE! Keeping my fingers crossed for your laparoscopy surgery.

Sadie, I'm so glad that you took charge and talked to your RE about Clomid. I really hope this cycle works for you (and me!!)

AFM, finally showed up this morning. Thank god. I was starting to get worried! I guess all in all it wasn't THAT late...3 days. Anyways, Sadie, I'm right behind you and will start taking Femara in a couple of days.

Hey girls! My husband and I are considering DS. Where is a good place to start? Which bank? How much does a vial usually cost and how many do you usually get per try?

We have been trying IVF cycles but I can't seem to get enough goos size follicles for egg retreival. IUI's have not worked because of my DH low sperm counts. But I think we might have a shot with DS and IUI since I do seem to have 1-2 decent follies with meds and my tubes are open. Any thoughts on that?

Also, is it possible for the RE's to mix DS and DH sperm for IUI so you don't REALLY know whose worked?

Raquel - I'm glad your RE was encouraging...I think that's a really good way to look at things...it does normally take more than 2 months for a fertile couple to conceive. Of course, it's free for them to try, and they haven't been trying for years already, but I remember I had to remind myself when we started with IUI's that it was like starting over again TTC with clean slate. Good luck with your lap and I hope you will be all set and ready to go for your next cycle.

Sadie - Yay for Clomid!!

Nelly - I'm so glad AF showed up so you can get started with your next cycle!

Wanessa - I hope you have a great vacation and can come back and get started with your next cycle

alfowler - It sounds like you have been through a lot with trying IUI and IVF and now considering IUI w/DS. We had really good luck with California Cryobank (cryobank.com). They had a good selection. For IUI vials, I think their price is $490 for Anonymous and $590 for an Open donor. Our insurance covers the purchase of donor sperm so we bought 8 vials. We used one per IUI so we now have three left. We had hoped to use the same donor for two children so that is why we bought so much. If that isn't important, then I would suggest buying as you go, unless you find a donor that you really like. Physically, I think it would be possible to mix DS and DH sperm as there are women on here who have used two vials for one IUI or you could do back to back IUI's using DH sperm one time and DS the other. The question is whether an RE would have an issue doing this for ethical reasons...that I don't know. I do know of someone who used DS backup for IVF and they fertilized two eggs with DS and two eggs with DH's sperm...they put back one of each and she ended up pregnant with a singleton. So I guess there wasn't an ethical concern there, it probably just depends on the RE. Good luck!!

Unhappy Hsg Sucks

I just want to scream. Today I went for my HSG, and needless to say it didn't go well. I knew I had a small fibroid, but I was told by my GYN that it was small and should not inhibit my ability to become pregnant or carry a pregnancy. Well today he said that they fibroid is very large and taking up alot of my uterus, and possibly blocking my left tube. I am so sad to say the least. He shot several tubes of dye into my uterus to try and get it pass the fibroid and nothing. I was hoping against all hope that things would go more smoothly from here on out, and now I am looking at have surgery if I really want to carry a child. It all just seems to get crazier and crazier by the day. I am not giving up and I do have faith it just seems like it shouldn't be so hard.

Applebie - I'm so sorry to hear that your HSG didn't go well. I know this is very hard but at least you now know about the fibroid.
I also had a HSG done months ago and they didn't mentioned anything about a fibroid, it wasn't until after I miscarried and a failed IUI (IUI done after m/c) that they mentioned something about a fibroid.
I just had surgery to remove it last week. It wasn't bad at all. I had to sit out anyway because I had cysts left over from my last IUI so I wanted the surgery before trying again.
Hang in there girl, this journey is not easy at all but we'll make it. We'll have our babies soon.

Applepie-

I am sorry about your HSG results, believe me I was experiencing the same thing just last week! I was found to have a blocked tube as well. Here I thought I was good to go. I was the one that had requested an HSG after two with IUI. I was devasted when the radiologist told me this. I got depressed and sad. I cried a lot.
I also have a fibroid. I had an MRI last year around this time and they found it somewhere on top of my uterus. My Ob/gyn at the time didn't seem to concerned about it either. I believe they told me it was 2cm or 2.5cm. Not big at all, but I really don't know if it has grown or not. It didn't show up on the HSG.

My RE highly recommends the lap surgery to see if I actually have a blocked tube. In some cases, it is not.
If you have insurance, I would say do it. Don't get me wrong, I am soooo scared that they will find something else or that my tube IS blocked. I just that it will turn out well and everything will be fixable.

With the lap, you may have it corrected!! Wishing the best of luck applepie and KUP!

Ya'll are not going to believe this. I'm still shocked while I'm writing this:

I went for my post surgical appt for my LAP and guess what I was told????????????? The doctor started the conversation off by saying "you are one lucky woman" Of course wondering why I was so lucky. She goes on to tell me that they found an ectoptic pregnany in my tube after examining the tube from the LAP. For those of you who may not know..my husband has no sperm, therefore, it was impossible for this to be a "recent pregnancy". Also, for those of you who don't know, I decided to go to another Fertility Clinic after my 5th IUI cycle since I sincerely felt that they (my old clinic) just didn't care about my fertility. There is no doubt that this tubal pregnancy was a result from the 3rd IUI Cycle that I had where my HCG levels started off slowly, and only got to around 12,000 before decreasing. They were able to see a sac in my uterus, but determined it was a blighted ovum because there was not fetus or sac. I am know learning that it was a "PSEDUO SAC" which is a fake sac that some ectoptic pregnancies can produce. On May 20th of this year (my IUI was on March 21, 09) I had severe..and I mean severe pain in my left (and only tube at that time) it was so severe that I ended up in the ER..they checked me via ultrasound and determined that it may be one of my fibroids "flaring" up which didn't make sense to me since they had not hurt like that in the past. They also went on to add, that an ectoptic pregnancy would have burst by now. My RE at the time caught wind that I went to the ER with pain on my left side, and advised me to come in ASAP to see him so they could do another ultrasound to rule out an ectoptic...they found nothing. So of course, at this point, I already knew that I was miscarrying since my beta levels had already started to drop. We had our 4th and 5th IUI cyles about 2 months after that and both were BFN's. Today, I found out the reason those particular cycles were BFN's..IT'S BECAUSE MY DARN TUBE WAS BLOCKED AS A RESULT OF AN ECTOPTIC. My new RE told me that the HSG report I did before starting my IUI's in Jan of this year showed a "free spill" of the tube which is not something you will get with an ectoptic since your tube is automatically blocked with an ectoptic. I feel very blessed but yet ticked off at the same time. How could I go around with an ectoptic from March to October and NO ONE notice it?? I am indeed lucky that my tube did not burst, and cause my death due to internal bleeding. Another interesting thing is that my HCG levels went down to 0 although I had an ectoptic, the doctor indicated that they have never seen that before. I just hate that we wasted money on are 4th and 5th IUI Cycles. I'm thinking about calling the Office Manager of the Old RE's office and asking for a refund for those cycles. One of the reasons why is because they were responsible for my care, and most importantly, they were the FIRST people to indicate to me that I may have a tubal because my hcG LEVELS were slow rising...but they just dropped the darn ball.

No home inseminations for us, have to move on to IVF due to damaged tube.

10-29-09 LAP and Hysterscopy, left tube was removed (undiagnosed ectoptic found ). The right tube was removed in 1993 as a result of a dermoid tumor.

Moving on to IVF in Feb 2010
25 pounds to lose.
