Welcome Raquel! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you this month. How many days past IUI are you?

We are also doing our first IUI unmedicated. Our Dr. wouldn't even give us the option of medicated for our first cycle, given that I have no fertility issues and all of the tests came back normal. He said the chance of overstimulation/cycle cancellation is greater.

Follicle size to achieve BFP

Hello, I wondering about the size of the follicles in the successful cycle. Doctors recomend at least 18-19 mm. in unmedicated cycle, but is there anyone who can tell that achieved pragnancy with that size of mature follicle?

I just found out that CA Cryobank sold out of our donor and he is now retired.

I'm that we get our BFP early, as we're being greedy and want 2 babies. Is that selfish??

No way Jose..

No way at all is that being selfish Nelly. DH wants me to have 3 kids and we hope to have the same donor for all. I hope your first IUI works out for you...I can't wait until you 2WW ends..I will be on pins and needles.

speaking of donors, we found out that our donor does not have anymore ICI (intracervical, mainly used for home inseminations) vials, he only has IUI Premiums left over, which are not reccomended for home inseminations. I hope this IUI works because we really like this donor. Otherwise, we will have no choice but to go to our 2nd choice donor...bleh !!

Glood luck.

Hello everyone my name is Theresa. Dh and I have been actively TTC for 15 months. And lazily trying for almost 2 years proir. We have a 3 year old daughter. We found out in June Dh has Azoo. He just had his appt with the U/r on Friday. They said he needs a $8000 surgery to remove scar tissue from his urethra(sp?). And most likely insurance wont cover it. And we cant afford that surgery plus his time off owrk. So we will most likely be moving on to donor sperm. And starting IUIs in February. Any words of wisdom will be helpful.

Logyn - You are doing your IUIs at home?

Hey Tuie! Selecting a donor is a really weird shopping experience but as long as you and DH are on board, looking is kinda fun in a bizarro-world way. My husband is azoo as well and we selected a donor that matched him up pretty good but then that donor retired (the nerve!) and we recently switched.

Like Logyn, we hoped to keep our first choice but it seems Mr.#2 will be fine. Now we just have to get pregnant, lol.

Nelly, 6 vials suppose to be enough to concevie if you will not use two vials at one cycle, but make sure to let your RE know about limitation. and it will work in first attempt. btw, our donor also retired.

Hi Tuie, the decision to do unmedicated or medicated will be really up to you. I think its safe to say that there are several opinions about this out there. I've seen women who have gotten BFP's on unmedicated cycles as well as medicated cycles.

At first, I wanted to do unmedicated because I ovulate on my own, have a regular cycle, and all of my fertility bloodwork checked out ok. In addition, I did not want to pump my body full of "foreign" stuff...even if it were just in small doses. However, after speaking with RE, he convinced me that when using donor sperm one will benefit with medicated cycles because more than 1 egg will be created which will give the sperm more targets. Plus, ladies like us don't have the option of BD'ing after the IUI for "extra coverage" like others without male factor issues. Therefore, timing is soooooo essential when doing IUI with donor sperm. I made the difficult decision to go ahead and start with 50mg of Clomid against what I initially wanted (which was unmedicated) I figured if we are spending this much money, why not increase our chances??

Now, with that being said, I just want to remind you that its up to you. I just wanted to let you know how I came to my decision not to do unmedicated based on RE convincing me that it was in my best interest to go medicated.

Some people do 2-3 cycles of unmedicated then move on to medicated cycles.

I hope this information helps.

Logyn, I can't wait until your beta!!

Tuie, thank you and I return the sympathy for yours. But yes, I am DONE with unmedicated cycles, lol. Even though I'm super regular and everything appears to be hunkydory, I blew past my three and am moving onto Clomid. But like girls have been saying, it's entirely up to you and you need to do what's best. I'm starting to think Clomid will help with my sanity in the 2ww, imagining more eggs out there with the swimmers is more of a comfort.

Thanks Deanie, I am very nervous about my upcoming Beta. This will be my 1st time NOT testing beforehand with an HPT. Trust me, thats difficult for me since I'm a POAS Addict.

Logyn, I didn't realize your beta was coming up so quickly!!

What does the progesterone level tell you? I saw you have a smiley face next to yours. Is 56 a good number?

Progesterone Levels

Nelly, the progesterone levels just basically confirm whether or not you have ovulated. On unmedicated cycles they want your progesterone to be around 10, while on medicated cycles they like it to be around 15. My RE's office likes to see it around 20 (on medicated cycles) I put a happy face next to my progesterone level because last cycle it was rather low...as a matter of fact, it was the lowest it has ever been at 13, (I'm usually at 20 7DPIUI). I just hate that they can't predict pregnancy based on progesterone.....56 is the highest that I have ever been out of alll my cycles.

Logyn - Good luck with your beta this week!! My first cycle without POAS until I missed AF was my 5th one and my successful one!! I'm hoping five is a lucky number for you as well!!

Tuie - I agree with the others about it being your choice. I am one that went through three unmedicated cycles and then moved on to Clomid 100mg for two cycles, the second of which was a success. I ovulate like clockwork and am so regular you could set a calendar to me....but for the reasons Logyn mentioned, it just didn't seem to work for us to get pregnant without meds. The cycle I got pregnant I had two mature follies.

Rossmary - You asked about follicle size...I only had them check my follies on my 5th IUI and that was my BFP cycle and I had two follies the day before my IUI: 20mm and 23mm.

Nelly - I hear you on the worries about using the same donor for both pregnancies. We purchased 8 vials and figured it would be more than enough for two babies. Shortly after our purchase we found out our donor was sold out and retired. I never imagined we'd go through 5 vials for one baby. I'm hoping that Clomid works just as fast as it did this time (two cycles) and it only takes three or fewer tries to get pregnant again
