I am doing my 1st iui with follistim. I got my period today, unexpectantly, but have made an appointment for I guess, my 1st US and BW (?) tomorrow am.
What questions should I be asking tomorrow? I read all these things here about follies and numbers etc...
I am kinda nervous now... but very excited.
Any advice fo rthis first visit? thanks!

Lucy! If you haven't used Follistim before, make sure you understand how to use the pen/syringe. I would ask how many and what size follicles they are hoping to get. Also ask how much notice you and DH will have before IUI is done, My RE told me about 21 hours notice. As long as you know how to properly give yourself the shots, there's not too much more to inquire about until you go back for your next appt. Feel free to ask us anything... and if it's about the shots, I'm a pro. This is my 5th month on Follistim.

Hi, thanks So much, I feel a little lost. The doc.s office is really great at taking care of me, but I feel like I do not know what is normal or not... anyway I had my bw done, results later today, I am glued to my phone. I also had the us, which was internal! wow I didnt know that was going to happen, but it all looked good apparently. So When can they see follicals on the US?
I had a lesson with the follistim pen a few weeks ago and it seems pretty easy enough. They warned me that my belly might feel bloated and I might look pregnant? omg! They also told me back then that we would get betwee 24-48 hours notice of the iui, on approx. the 14th-16th day I think.. This is not good for those of us who do not have a regular 9-5 job, but I guess we'll have to make it happen somehow.

hello everyone! I'm going to join the October IUI group. Hopefully I will be doing my 2nd IUI at the end of October.

I had my testing for this month, and my uterine lining was too thin. The follicles were there, the hormone levels were ok, but the lining wasn't thick enough.

I used Letrozole this month, and will again next month. I have tried Clomid and it thinned out my uterine lining and I had a cyst from the Clomid.

So now I'm waiting on to arrive. That's the longest 2ww. haha!

Lucy, Your u/s will almost always be internal. Sorry we didn't warn you about that. I do get a littl ebloating, kind of high up, between my ribs and my belly button... but nothing too bad, and I certainly don't look pregnant from the shots. lol. They should be able to see follicles everytime you get a US... sometimes they are easier to see than other times... If you're looking at the screen, your follicles will look like big empty circles... and your ovaries will typically look like a little bundle of grapes.... the bigger the size of the grapes, the better for ovulation. Ideal size is between about 18mm ans 28 mm normally, but with injections, 16mm's are big enough to contain a viable egg. And my RE said, he even had one lady on shots that got her BFP from a 14mm!!!!

Went to my appt this morning... I have a 16.5 and a 13.5.... with a lining of 11 or 13 (i can't remember- so we'll just say 12). I go back tomorrow for u/s and b/w again. RE said he wants the larger follicle to be about a 20. Waiting to hear back about my b/w and how much my dose will be tonight. IUI maybe Monday-ish? Oh, and at my appt Wed, E2 was 210, hence the lowered dose.

My ultra sound looked like 2 black holes! I couldnt see any grapes ! lol, I'll ask the doc next time. I am beginning follistim tomorrow, and another us and bw on wednesday. Looks like 2nd week in Oct for iui.
So most common side effects are some bloating, boobies feel sore, headaches and some nausa? the website also said flatulence! oh well, its all in a good cause. Good luck flashgal, wish you all the best.

Can I join ladies, I just did my first injection tonight, CD3, and will go in Monday to see how the dosage is working, this is my first cycle since my son was born so I am super excited to just get the ball rolling and hope this time it works! Good luck to you all and I hope we will see some BFPs at the end of October!!!!

Hi ladies!! Well I had an appt with my RE yesterday and I had bw and u/s. He said he sees 4 eggs.....didn't mention follies though. He said for me to continue taking follistim for 3 more days....which means 11 days in total!!!! Is this normal?? He also wants me to take Ganirelix for 3 days as well.....I'm really trying to make sense of all of this! This is my first cycle using injectibles so I'm not sure if this is the norm!

I have to go back to RE on 9/28 for bw and u/s.....hopefully I'll be ready for the ovidrel soon. He said he thinks I'll ovulate on 9/29 or 9/30....we shall see!

Ladies, I went in for my US this morning (CD 10/Saturday).... and it looks like I'll be triggering around 11pm tonight and IUI-ing Monday morning at10:45!!! WOO HOO!!! We have 5 follies, some on the small side, but I hear they can still grow between now and ovulation! I have a 18.5, 14.5, 13.5, 12, and an 11. Lining was 17!

I hope you don't mind if I join this thread?! I'm new to all of this! We will be doing our iui sometime in oct! Just waiting for af! She so annoying when you want her to come she is always late! Grr! I have pcos so its hard to pin point when she will be here. Anyways I will be taking clomid cd 3-7 then trigger shot (ovadril) when I'm told...have an u/s day 12 then suppositories. I hope the first time works. We have been waiting to get a bfp for almost 5 yrs! Well good luck ladies!!

Does anyone know if stress can effect the outcome of an IUI? I am currently taking injections but under a lot of stress due to a sudden unexpected lose of two very close family members.
