Well I am so anxious for tomorrow morning. My main concern is my DH sperm count. I just keep on thinking the worst like it is going to be to low for the IUI to even slightly work. I hear things like you sperm count has to be 10 million for IUI to work. Well my DH sperm count was 6 million two months ago. Yikes! He gave up smoking and was put on antibitics for an infection so maybe this will improve his numbers. I just need some words of encouragement or something. I mean I dont want people to give me false reassurance I just want the facts, the truth. My RE wasn't concerned about my DH sperm count at all but I am. Any advice.

Julianna, our count last month was 184 million and 5 mature follicles and we still got a BFN. And there are lots of ladies on these boards who have gotten a BFP with lower numbers. It all just depends on whether it's your time or not. It will all work out eventually.

1st IUI cycle

Hi there,

I'm new (posted in the intro forum).
Tomorrow we're doing our 1st IUI cycle.
I took Clomid 150mg days 2-6, and will do 2 x pregnyl injections this morning.
Last night my ob/gyn did an ultrasound, and saw 6 x 17-19mm follicles.
I'm starting prednisone 5mg twice a day for 2 weeks also, as he thinks I'm at risk for OHSS.
Just wanted to share with others, as we're expats living in Saudi Arabia, and its pretty isolating.
I'll read up on the old forum posts, then if I have any questions I'll post.

Thanks,
dancinginthemist

Juliana-my office does not give us a count since I am with my OB, but when DH had his SA done he had around 5 mil, and we got a BFP. ANd I read a article that was about a study done that men who ejaculate once a day have a lower count but better quality sperm than another man who has a higher number.

Went for my u/s today and my lining is at a 9!!!!! So excited about that because I dont think it has been there ever! And my right ovary is looking like the leader with a follie at 12, a few at 9 to 10 and the lefty has a few smaller ones. So three more days of injections, trigger thursday as long as the u/s looks good and IUI Friday and SAturday! I am feeling really lucky this cycle, dont want to jinz myself but I am feeling pretty positive!

smr-get those legs up girl!

dancing-wow you have 6 follies? sounds like the makings of a bfp to me!

Well today was my first IUI ever. I was so nervous. I have over 8 follies on right ovary and 4 on left. RE says that 5 are def mature. He don'tlike giving me numbers because it will make me crazy. But I am going crazy anyway with not knowing. He didn,t even tell me my husbands SA but I looked when he left the room and its was only 6.5 million but molility was great. Still his low count makes me nervous. What also makes me nervous is 2 hours after procedure a had a large gush of fluid come out of me (YUK!). I am worried it was the sperm. Honestly I can't afford to lose any. Is this a normal occurance. I also had some spotting and def cramping and aching in my left and right ovary. Just so worried. I have been working so hard at all of this with the the medication and not complaining about the side effects. I just really want this to happen. Can anyone share there first IUI experience with me

Juliana- first off and for you!! As far as my first IUI, I felt very leaky afterward and noticed a lot of cm the day of the IUI. My nurse told me not to worry, that the sperm can't come back out. I also had dull pains in my left ovary and that's the one that had my big follie on it! So I was just feeling the aching from that. After the IUI I cramped on and off the rest of that day. I hope your IUI is a success!!

Has anyone done a combination cycle? I took 100mg clomid on days 5-9, then for days 10-13/14 I'm taking 50iu Follistim.

I go back Thursday for another check and then I'm doing my IUI on Friday or Saturday.

This is my 4th IUI and would really like a and to carry to term!

Any advice on the combining of the drugs? Or other thoughts?

Ok Ladies, now I am getting concerned. I just wanted to find out how much time is between your trigger and IUI. I am suppose to trigger today at 2pm, then go in for the IUI tomorrow at 8am. Based on what I am reading it seems like its too early. Anyone have a schedule like this? about 19 hours apart?

Keeping Positive - my dr believes in doing the trigger the day before the IUI and not waiting longer as to make sure the sperm are there waiting for the egg to drop. Does your dr perform b2b iui's??

Stacey.

Thanks SMR302. I like to know who to commiserate with . Had my IUI this am. I HATE that my RE doesn't do an U/S before and never tells me the sperm count. She is however very optimistic and said this was a "really great cycle". I too feel very positive but don't want to get too excited because we all know how bad the letdown is. I am soooo nauseuos and have been for about 5 days now. Have alot of cramping both sides . Already told DH to get home early to BD tonight.
and to all!!!!
