u/s showing "free fluid" (ovulation) from one follicle. Anyone else?
I went in for an ultrasound on Day 13 and one of my follicles had "free fluid" or had ovulated. My doc choose to do the HCG and then an IUI that day. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Hi Martha,
This sounds like happened with me. I had a positive surge on the evening on cd18, as expected. By the time I had my US at 9:00 am the next month, my nice big follicle was gone. We took the chance and did the iui. My nurse was not very worried that it had a slight head start. She said it could still be successful. BUT...if this cycle is not successful, the plan will be to have me test more than once per day so that if I have a positive surge in the morning, I can rush in and do the IUI the same day rather than the next day. Apparently my follicles are anxious and don't stick around for too long. Had you been testing and had a positive surge the day before? If so, it sounds like things could still work out. Good luck!

By positive surge, do you mean that the follicle ovulated? I had an u/s on CD12 and it was thought at this time that no of the follicles had ovulated. When I went in on CD13, my u/s showed that one of the five follicles I had had "free fluid" coming from it. So we did the HCG and one IUI that same day. We decided to not do a 2nd IUI the next day in fear of having multiples. We tried on our own for the next couple of days. What do you think of the timing of all this? Do you know if most follicles tend to go ovulate one after another or does it happen over a period of time? Thanks for your response. I am in the 2ww so am obsessing. |
