2ww after first IUI

Hi, I am new here.My DH and I have been TTC for almost 4 years. We were told we have secondary unexplained infertility. A week ago today we did our first IUI. I am getting so nervous it didn't work because I keep feeling like I am getting AF symptoms. They are early but I thought that could be due to the Femara and trigger shot I received. Is that common?

I am trying to stay positive. I just turned 39 and feel like time is running out.

I am anxious to read more on this site and hear some success stories for hope. Thanks in advance!

The doctor me to test at home.
That is so neat we did our IUI the same day and both used Femara! I took Clomid a year ago and tried naturally with no . I had horrible side effects from Clomid so the doctor suggested Femara. After I agreed she said she prefers Femara. I also had the Ovidrel trigger.

Are you testing at home? This week can't go by quickly enough. But, it is the first time I have had hope in a few years.

Hopeing and we get our !

I took Clomid 8 years ago w/ no luck (obviously)... I couldn't stand the side effects either!!!! When I discussed IUI w/ my current RE I said no to Clomid, so he prescribed Femara. I took it CD 3 -7, went in for follie check on Sat the 21st, triggered that night, w/ IUI on that Mon (a week ago from today).

Yes, I plan to test at home. I am already depressed thinking this didn't work. If these cramps would go away, then that would be AWESOME! But, then again, it doesn't mean that we are out this cycle. MANY women get cramps... to the point they think the cycle is a complete bust, but lo & behold... !!!! I am debating on when I should POAS... Do you have a day picked out? Maybe we can test on the same day..

I did Femara CD3-7 and Ovidrel on CD12 (Sunday morning).I had my follicle scan Friday which showed one follicle at 22mm. My IUI was done around noon on Monday.

DH wants me to test earlier than two weeks. He wants to get one of the HPT's that you can test early with. I am not sure yet when I want to test. Did you have a day you are testing? I am up for testing on the same day!

I don't have a day picked out. I have a couple types of test... one being the first response. They are leftover from my IVF cycle last year... I am sure they are not expired... that was 6 months ago. We will have to come up with a day to test.
I am having some pretty bad cramps!!! I REALLY hope this works & the cramps go away for 9 months!!! I hope the same for you too!!!

Welcome hopeandpray4baby!

I just did my first IUI (2 of them back to back) last week. I have also been having some cramping and sensititity down there esp. right after the IUI. I also had some bloating and had to wear looser pants and my chest feels bigger too. So basically AF symptoms!

I am thinking this is normal because I hear a lot of women tell their docs that they get cramps after IUIs and it's nothing to worry about if you aren't doubling over in serious pain. My DH says this whole fertility process is harder on him because he has to perform on time - ha! We have to endure medicated and fertility treatment cramps and soreness!

I am having bad cramps too. They were really bad a few hours ago. They were more like cramps and ovulation pains mixed together. I think it's the Ovidrel. I was doing some research and it sounds pretty normal. I was also reading some success stories and they had these symptoms and they turned out so I am going to try my best to not worry about them.

Thank you cat83! Looks like you are right on our heels with your IUI! I had the cramps right after too along with bleeding. The next night I had horrible bloating. My chest increased in size too along with tenderness these last few days. That made me start to worry about as well but during my "research" I saw that was also a symptom of the women who got had so I think we are still good. I guess we just have to wait it out. Someone told me to stay busy and start ignoring my body until I can test because that is the only way I will know for sure.

Hoping and praying for a for all of us!

Hi, and welcome!

I had my first IUI on January 18th. I'm supposed to wait until February 1st to take a test but I've been having AF-ish cramps for almost a week now. This waiting is harder than I expected! How are you holding up?

My cramps are getting worse... to the point I wonder if I have some cyst... IDK! My ovaries feel like they are full with pressure. Who knows what it's from... I have a lot going on, on the inside. I had to take some Tylenol - which did nothing for the cramps. I still HOPE that I get my !!!! I will probably test on Friday while & !

Jenn, only one more day!! I will you see a ! I am getting nervous for all of us!

Babybuggy, I am thinking Saturday or Sunday too. In the morning of course.lol I have known women who got a at 11dpo but I always think if it is too early then it just causes disappointment so why not just wait a day or so to spare what could be false disappointment. Also, that is how my pains were like last night.I talked to somebody who has had two successful IUI's and she said that once she had a lot of AF symptoms and the other she had no symptoms at all. She said you really can't tell because of that trigger shot. That is also what I have been reading so I know we can still have hope. I think we are just always ready to prepare ourselves in case it doesn't work.It makes it easier that way. I can tell the closer I get to the 2ww being over the more I find myself saying," I dont' think it worked." But I know it is just me trying to prepare myself for that possibility because from what I have been told and read we basically won't know until we either test or AF shows.

I agree - I think it's a defense mechanism! Heck, while my DH & I were on our way to our IUI appt I talked almost the entire drive (2 hours..LOL) about what our next steps will be if this fails (another IUI, another IVF cycle, a 2nd opinion..blah..blah) - BEFORE I even had the IUI. Why I can't just focus on the current treatment is beyond me... I think it's because I am so use to getting a (altho I do put hope into everything we try, but deep down I worry it won't work)! I can't imagine getting a .... let's hope this works!!!! I think testing this weekend sounds like a good idea!!!!

Well, I don't have the cramping like I was. A little pressure sometimes but that could be because I have been bloated on and off. I have been having headaches and my "chest area" is still sore.

DH tries to get me to test every night. I told him it's too early and that when I do it WILL NOT be at night and has to be first thing in the morning. I thought he would know that by now.LOL I am still thinking Saturday or Sunday morning. I told him maybe we should just start with a cheap test. I always feel guilty spending a lot of money on them for nothing. We can move to a more expensive one if needed.

How are you all doing?

Oh and I realized yesterday that there is a January IUI thread.LOL I didn't see it when I joined because I went straight to posting.LOL

My DH hadn't mentioned much about my IUIs and then suddenly out of the blue he asks me yesterday, "So when is the first day you can test?" So I look at the calendar and I said, "Prolly Sunday at the earliest." Then he says, "Oh, I was hoping you could do it Saturday." I ask "Why?" He continues, "Well since we are going to my grandparents I thought it might be nice if we had good news to share."

GEEZ! PRESSURE MUCH??!?!?!?! We've been together for almost 6 years now and I still haven't gotten a BFP (we weren't that careful in the beginning but it didn't matter anyway afterall). Now I'm gonna feel like a total failure if I don't "produce." Then I told him that even if I did get a BFP that I could have a MC and that I didn't want to blab it to everyone right away. He is just so freaking hoping that I get a BFP and here I am ready to adopt already and be done with this foolishness.

Sigh.
