Follistim Shortage???
i went to pick up my follistim today and the pharmacy told me that it's on backorder til after march!!! what the?
anyone else?

I go thru a mail order site and they told me they only had one box of 900 U of Follistim left when I called. I didn't care as I only needed 300 at that point but I was thrilled I had my other meds at home and ready.
What stress that we don't need. Good luck to you all!

Me, 39 low AMH DH, 47 no known issues  at 7 weeks in 2008[size=1]Saw our first RE Jan 2011 3 IUI's with Femara 12.5  3 IUI's with Femara + Follistim 75-150U Mini Stim IVF Feb 2012 BCP CD1-7 to hold things down (embryologist in Hait no ER 2/4-14). Feb 9: Ultrasound all clear with Mock Transfer and start of Femara 12.5 (Thurs-Monday) Will add 450U Follistim Sunday-Wednesday and next Ultrasound appt 2/16--none on right, 19 & 12 on left Changing to TI Mini Stim IVF try #1.5 CD 2-6 Femara 12.5 CD7-9 450U Follistim March 14 CD10 U/S (at least 2 on left, 1 on right) ER 3/16/2012--ovulated big follie and no eggs in other 2 IVF try #2 Jan, 2013 1-23 cancelled for cyst IVF try #2 moved to Feb, 2013 Lupron started 2/16, adding Follistim and Menopur 2/18 2/23 E2 225, left: 11, 9, 8 right: 14 2/30 E2600+, still thinking 4 3/1ER---got 3 and 1 immature, 1 mature no fert, 1 perfect 3/3 transferred a perfect grade 1--5 cell embie

thanks guys. i was soooo stressed when i made the initial post! my script was for 900iu. the pharmacy said they had no 900's and no 300's, only a handful of 600 til after march and that i might not could get any of those since i had to wait for my re to write a new script.
i was most worried that i would get one and get started with a cycle and then not be able to get a refill. the re's nurse suggested we use gonal-f, but follistim has worked for me well and i didn't want to change. anyway, i don't know how, but after my nurse talked to the pharmacy i picked up a 900iu after all... whew... good luck to you all and thanks for your posts.

Hi all,
Just wanted to drop in to say that the alternative to follistim is gonal-f. I used gonal-f for my injection treatments because my insurance would not cover follistim. The gonal-f worked well for me. I now have a three week old little girl. So if there is a shortage check with your RE and they may suggest to put you on gonal instead. Did anyone say why folistim is in such s shortage? I would be curious to find out the reason for the shortage. Good luck to all and much baby dust coming your way!

Transferred Three embies on day three.. Baby Girl Arrived January 2012!!! We have 2 snow-babies which we are looking to transfer in a few months!  To All !!!!!

I had the same issue with Gonal F, I usually go through CVS but Walgreens had it available. I don't know if it has to due with a different supplier but the product was exactly the same. So try calling a different pharmacy, all they have to do is contact your current pharmacy and get a fax. Super easy and quick
