has clomid EVER worked?

I see just about everyone moves from clomid to injections.

I know clomid is cheap cheap cheap, but has anyone ever gotten pregnant on clomid?!?!?

Or is it just SOP that all RE's start us in clomid?

I'll admit, it made me feel a lot worse that Follistim injections! mentally AND physically.

Just a question I wanted to put out there.

My mom has a friend whos daughter supposedly got preg. with twins on clomid alone, but other than that, it seems like it never works!

Thanks for listenin!

i want to start i club called the "I hate clomid club"!!! i just finished my 4th and last cycle on it, and i am so glad. it did horrible things to me! i broke out like crazy, COULD NOT sleep, had hot flashes severely and was so emotional! no more clomid for me, i am moving on! i did hear of one story of someone actually getting pregnant on their 1st round, but i can't remember where i heard the story! good question!

I do have a friend who has been ttc for three years. She was on 50 mg of clomid for a year and nothing worked. At the start of the year they increased it to 100 and she is currently pregnant due in November. Other than her and the people I've seen on TV I've never known it to work.

Didn't work for me. An u/s supposedly showed I had follicles on both ovaries, and still no pg (this was around '97 or '98). 6 months on it. I hated the hot flashes, too. I was moody anyway, so I don't know if it was the clomid or me. LOL!

Injectibles are a hassle but I didn't really notice any sideeffects. And hell, it worked! (And expensive for us).

"I hate clomid. I love America." [sort of an inside joke -- a friend's child came up with "I hate Florida. I love America." not that he really has anything against Florida. He's 6.]

I was on it for about 8 months. I didn't have an reactions like some but it just seemed like a waste of money and time. I bet doctors do it just to appease some of us and then send us on our merry way!! (:

My SIL who was married to my brother for several years ttc got pg on Clomid after 2 months and then got pg again right away without using Clomid, they have two dtrs. My husbands DIL got pg on Clomid after several months after being married 2 yrs ttc and then got pg again 2 yrs later without using Clomid. I used it years ago myself, but it didn't work for me, so I had to move on to IUIs and IVFs.

It hasn't worked for me, but DH has a low sperm count/motility. I assumed that played a large part. My doctor has checked my progesterone levels with and without Clomid and has said that I ovulated with it but didn't without it. I've read all of your comments about injectables and thought they were used if Clomid didn't work, but now I'm not so sure.

Does anyone know if injectables are necessary if I ovulate with the help of Clomid?

I haven't had too much of a problem with Clomid ... well, other than "baby acne" and hellacious mood swings. Hah.

Natalie,
How many follicles are you getting with Clomid? Hey, if it works for you, great! You won't have to move on to injectables.
course most docs go to after being unsuccessful with clomid.
Good luck to you!
Much loce,
Julie

Question Clomid question

I am going on my second round of clomid and IUI- the first round stunk- now I seem to be getting hot flashes all the time???? Has everyone been monitored while they are on this stuff??? If so why isnt my doctor looking at anything??? I kinda feel like I am being thrown to the wolves after reading peoples posts?? What do they look for while you are taking these horrid pills??? Hot flashes, mood swings unbelievable..I've also read that some people are given suppositories or something with this???

Julie,

I got pg with my 2nd round of Clomid but miscarried for the 2nd time. Then I did injectibles/IUI after the m/c and didn't get pg, so who knows this is all a horrible gamble. Sorry I had a terrible day (see my other post). I am so frustrated with it all!

I may be out of line here, but I wonder if injectibles help us develop better quality eggs?
