2 iui's

Hi I am new to this. I have had 2 unsuccessful iui's. I am stressed and worried. We have been trying to conceive for the past 3 years. This year finally was told that my husband due to Lupus and his medicines he has been on, does not have a count. That in itself is heart breaking but we are coping with that. Then my doctor turns to me and says now lets get u pregnant. But did no tests on me. Just started me on my first trip down the road to iui. I am just wondering if any one else has had this same thing happen to them. I am so confused and heart broken.
Some days I do not even feel like getting up and moving around. But Iknow I must so I try to put on a smile and go on. I even catch myself so made at co workers when they talk about their pregnancies and I know that I am not mad at them for there hope but mad because I can not enjoy the same thing. I guess that would be called jealous.
Thanks for letting me vent.

You are not alone....pretty much everyone here has felt the same way. It is a heartbreaking thing. This is the spot to vent....if you haven't experienced IF, you just don't get it.

Are you still seeing a regular doctor or have you found a fertility clinic? I would recommend getting some tests done on you. Baseline blood hormone labs and a HSG are pretty important. The IUIs will not be successfull if your tubes are not open or it there is a problem with your uterus...plus the IUIs could be more successful with additional hormones (if your levels are low) Depending on age and your insurance situation, I would highly recommend finding a clinic (especially since you have been trying to conceive for a while). My ob/gyn bumped me out after 4 months & sent me to an expert...and I feel it was a good move.

If you have any questions, this is a supportive group with a lot of good information!

Hang in there!

You are not alone at all. I too am dealing with MF infertility and it is a devastating blow. I think if I had found out the issue lied with me I'd feel better honestly because I'd feel some sort of control and possibly could better find a cause or a cure. Unfortunately that's not the case with my husband, we've never been given a clear answer and there aren't many things to do to correct the issue.
We have a low count but they started us with IUIs as well due to my insurance at that time. All three failed and we were told that IVF was our best option and so now we are about to head down that bath. I just now had an HSG done last week and haven't had any bloodwork done yet. I'm starting to think that isn't the way it goes for most but I have to have faith in the medical team I'm working with. I'm no expert by any means!

2 iui

Thank you both for your support. I have been going to a clinic since Feb. 2006. The only tests that they have done for us is some blood work on my side. When they do my baseline ultrasounds they tell me everything looks perfect. I am just really confused.
But I have been looking into going to another clinic in Birmingham. Just scared to start all over again with other doctors.

JM...

By all means go to another clinic. It's a pain starting over with a new doc, but yours is NOT HELPING!! You need to have medical tests done, and any reputable clinic will do them. I've gone to 3 REs now, and finally found one who was willing to treat me, and on my terms. Keep going until you find one you're comfortable with. And always remember that they work for you! They're not just "helping you" out of the kindness of their hearts. You pay them. They work for you.

Good luck!!

,
I have my first appt. with my third RE tomorrow. I disliked my first ones gloom and doom style, then my second (wonderful) clinic does not participate in shared risk IVF...so now I'm going to try to start with one who does. The point I'm trying to make is to find someone that works best for you. Starting over does suck, but you'll have more answers and less stress for having done it. Good luck to you!!

Question

Thank you. One more question about changing. I have some samples frozen at this clinic. Will they let me transfer those to the new one. Or am I stuck with them until the last iui?

You definitely need to consider seeing another RE. I too am with a doctor who tests on my terms. Even if he thinks it's uncalled for if it's what I want for piece of mind he'll do it. Blood work doesn't show the big picture, ultrasounds don't always show the entire picture, there are other options out there. What kind of samples do you have frozen?

i don't know the answer to this, but i think since YOU paid for the sperm, it's YOURS and not theirs... so I would think they would let you transfer it, but will probably charge you a shipping fee, though... i am also kind of surprised that they asked you to buy 6 vials, hope your spermbank has a good return policy...
