We are considering artificial insemination..can anyone help by telling me how long it normally takes to determine ovulation time.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Does your doctor want to wait a cycle to see when you ovulate? Will you be doing a natural cycle IUI or medicated? Typically (this is for medicated cycles) they monitor you with ultrasounds to see how big the follicles are and when they are ready, they give you a trigger shot to bring on ovulation. For me, I was given the trigger shots on cycle day 12 with my iui/ovulation coming on day 13. I am not sure if that was your question though.

If you aren't going to use meds, then just go buy an ovulation kit at the grocery store. There are instructions in there that will walk you through when you should start testing. You have to wait so many days after your period to start testing but you can certainly figure it out this month or whenever your next period is. Good Luck!
