Just had our third IUI today. Successful in January and got pregnant. I had an LH surge on my own in January. Miscarried end of February. Did 2nd IUI June but had to do HCG shot. We weren't successful. Had to do another HCG shot on Sunday and had IUI today.
Any advice on whether the HCG shot makes a difference? Also.... I am wondering why my doctor has not mentioned clomid???

My husband is deploying and we decided to freeze so we can continue trying while he's gone. Anyone else familiar with this??

I'm seeing a lot of posts stating IUI with injectables. Can someone please explain what that means? I also forgot to say that we have been TTC for a year.

I am also a newbie to this board. I am not new to this roller coaster of IF. My DH and I have been TTC for over 10yrs. I have a DS from previous relationship who is my life. I am onto my third and final RE as we are not gettin any younger. After many tests I have had three laps to remove cysts over the years and have totaled 7 m/c. I have just learned that I have a blood clotting disorder so I have to take a baby asp. daily and if I do get pg I will have to go on blood thinners.
Wishing you all

Hi I'm Maren.

Hi I'm Maren. We have been TTC for 4 years now and working with a RE for 8 months. I've done 6 rounds of clomid and just had my 4th IUI a week ago. If this cycle doesn't work out, we will move to Gonal-F next cycle. I really really hope it works more than ever this time because I'm super skiddish about needles

Newbie to the group

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jasmine and my DH and I have been trying to conceive for about 3 years now. I have a DS who is 6 1/2 from a previous marriage and who my husband is raising as his own. I had my first appointment today with a new infertility specialist since my last one that I had for 2 years, insulted me by asking me to donate half of my eggs. The new IS thinks I might have PCOS since I had trouble with small follicles in the past and I am a borderline diabetic. The course she wants to take is to put me on BC for 3 months to regulate my menses, for me to lose some weight since that can affect fertility and to have my glucose/insulin levels checked to see if I need to be put on Metformin. I have enjoyed reading the inspring stories on this site and also to see the faith that everyone still believes in. I have a HSG scheduled for yes, the 2nd time in 2 years on Wednesday. I wish everyone lots of baby dust.

Married & TTC: 3 yrs
ME: 26, possible PCOS
DH: 39, Semen Analysis Normal
Pregnant 3 times:
1 DS Nathan 10/23/2001
1 Miscarriage 10/01/2002
1 Miscarriage 10/20/2007

IF History:
1yr TTC naturally
2007 - I did BBT, had 3 cycles of Clomid and 1 IUI, HSG with Normal Spill on both sides and Laparoscopy that showed "beautiful ovaries and uterus" as the doctor put it.
7/18/08 - Meeting with new IS, had Female Lab Tests done, Ultrasound with Uterus and Ovaries looking Normal.
7/20/08 Start Birth Control to regulate menses & Doxycycline for HSG.
7/21/08 DH and I to have Law Labs done, DH Semen Analysis.
7/23/08 HSG

IUI with injectables is when you have the Intrauterine Insemination in the same cycle you are giving yourself injections of fertility drugs such as Gonal-F, etc. I hope that helps.

Just joined today

Hello All,

I had my 1st IUI on Satuday, July 19th. My DH and I have been TTC for 2yrs. We're both in our Mid-20s. No issues. We're totally an "unexplained infertility" case. I was on Clomid for 5 days. 2 days later took Menopur. Then IUI day after that. We pray this is it. Can't wait to be tested Aug. 5th.

It's great to read so many others' stories.

I'm new here

Hi all,
I was supposed to have my first IUI on 7/25. I went through all the standard tests last month (after TTC for 2+ years), and everything turned out normal. The only abnormal diagnosis we have is my DH's low morphology. My doc prescribed injectibles for me, I guess to give my DH's swimmers more targets. I did the CCT last month and didn't seem to respond much, so she gave me a pretty high dosage of Follistim shots (150 IUs). I went in for an ultrasound after a few injections and had 16 follicles, and some of them were huge! She told me that was too many to safely do an IUI and that I should just stop all the meds and wait until next month. I guess I just wasn't prepared for this outcome because I'm even more of an emotional wreck now than I usually am. Has anyone else had to cancel an IUI for a similar reason?

Your support is very much appreciated,
Clare

Ours is kind of an oddball story for infertility treatments...

Hi there ladies,

We started treatments with IUI May 2007. I am a woman married to a wonderful person who was born male and is now transitioned and living full time as a female. We were married when she was still "male", but shortly afterwards, she began hormone treatments and such to become a transgendered female. We decided before she started the treatments that we would want children in the future, so we banked her sperm (13 vials) before the hormone treatments made it impossible for her to produce fertile "specimens". Now we have decided that things are right for us to have a child and are TTC. We have to use IUI because that is only way for us to use the banked sperm. We tried IUI naturally (no meds) for 6 cycles last year without success. I am 36 and we have come to realise that it isn't going to be as easy as we'd thought to get preggers. We took a few months off, during which I started acupuncture. Then, this year, since we have such a limited supply of the lil' swimmers the RE decided to step it up on our April 2008 cycle by having us use Clomid. My follies responded well to the Clomid, almost too well, but it also thinned my lining, it was only 6 mm when they did that IUI. It didn't take and we had to take a month off due to multiple ovarian cysts caused by the Clomid overstimulation. After those disappeared and we were cleared to try again, they had me do a cycle on letrozole (Femara) in June. The follies responded less to the letrozole, but we did have two good sized follies that they expected would release eggs. My lining was also much improved using letrazole. Unfortunately again, the IUI didn't work. The RE stepped it up again with this current cycle, I took letrozole CD 3 to 5 then 75 IU of Follistim (injectible) for 4 days. I had responsive follies on both ovaries when we u/s on CD 12 with two looking like winners. The way the RE put it is that I was "shooting from both barrels". I took an Ovidrel trigger injection on the evening of CD12 and we went in for the IUI on July 11th, CD14. The bloodwork looked good, the lining was at least 10 mm so hopefully we are preggers this time! I will post updates of course and I hope to be better able to cope with all of this emotional up and down. I helps so much reading other people's experiences and see all of the wonderful support out there. Good luck to all of us!

Here is my story:
married for 14,5 years. We wanted a big family with at least 6 or more kids. So never on BC pills. But..... we had unexplained IF and concieved our first child thru Pergonal/IUI 6 years after the wedding. He is 8 now. Then when he was 1 year old we made an appoitment to start again IUI, but..... I got pg naturally. We had another son. After he was 1 y o we made another appoitment to start IUi and... again a miracle - I'm pg with DD who is almost 5 now. And since then...... we are tring and trying for #4 with no results. we live in the other country because of my DH job. And it's a big problem to make fertility treatments there. So now we are on vacation in USA and we went to your RE and started Menopur yeastarday that will follow by 2 IUI. Hope we will get this cycle because if not another option - is our next vacation next summer (I had 2 cycles now with Clomid/HCG with

Hello, I am new to this site, just joined today. My story: My husband and I have been married for 2.5 yrs and have been TTC since our honeymoon. About a year and a half ago we found out that DH had a low count (5mil), his urologist diagnosed him with a varicocele which he had surgery for right away. Three months later he was re-checked with everything in normal range. Now we are a year since his surgery and still nothing. My doc wants to try IUI next, we go in the first week in September.
My husband and I are both 30, and so far they can't find anything wrong with me. Labs and HSG good!
I hope IUI is the answer!!
