So you did another IUI the very next day based on low progesterone levels? Can you explain the reasoning here?

I ask because we just had our first unsuccessful IUI and they will have me on progesterone supplement for next one - but I take it 3 days after LH surge/IUI.

thanks..

Yeah the day of my first IUI on the 17th my RE does bloodwork to see where about my Prog. levels are at. They're supposed to be around 2.5 and mine was 2.0 so they do the second IUI to make sure they didn't miss the window. It's just a better chance of it working. My RE also automatically puts you on progesterone supplements till your 2nd trimester. Did you O with this last IUI? Sorry I'm not sure if this helped! But I'll keep my fingers crossed for your next go round!

Red face New and nervous

Hey all. My dh and and I have been ttc for 2+ years. He has mosaicism, so we must use a donor. I have had a septum, but also adhesions in my uterus (??Asherman's??). Those were just removed x1wk ago via lap/hys. Currently on Estrace to help prevent further adhesions, but then it sounds like we are going to be good to go for dIUI. All of my blood levels came back normal, and am not sure about ovualtion yet. The OPKs stink!! Is this line fainter than that?!?! ARGH! Nevertheless, I will be starting out with Hcg shots and progesterone post dIUI. I didn't opt for clomid since I had my ds at 34 weeks due to uterine defect. Maybe since that is cleared up I might change my mind. I guess we will just wait to see!!!

Hello Everyone!

Me: PCOS tendencies
DH: Low sperm count, motility and morphology isssues.
TTC- 1 1/2 years.

1st IVF-June 2008 Two embryos transferred
2nd IVF-Sept 2008 two embryos transferred with genetic testing done but embryo detached after first Beta
3rd IVF Frozen transfer Three embryo's transferred that were left over from cycle two-Nov 2008 but embryo detached again after first Beta?????

1st IUI with Clomid and donor sperm Jan 2009

Hello Girls! My husband and I are in the process of 2nd IUI with donor sperm. Here are my issues. I have asked my RE to do a laproscopy (sp) to identify if there are issues with my uterine lining due to two detaching embryo's. He says that the ultrasound would have showed him something if there was but I'm not so sure. I have had two friends who went to RE's who told them the same thing and when they switched to new RE's the new RE did the surgery and found scar tissue. It was removed and now they have both had children. Another issue that I have is that with IVF meds I always produced a large amount of follicles (20+) Now with IUI and Clomid the RE started me on 50 mg of Clomid and I produced one follicle . I did not want to go through with the IUI because I felt like it was pointless and....I was right because it didn't work. Not sure which way to proceed at this point because I know that it can take many cycles of IUI before it works but Iam worried that there may be issues with my lining. Either way I am set to start another IUI cycle tomorrow. We have two months of donor sperm left but I am considering asking my RE to do a double insemination this month because I hear that donor sperm lowers the percentage of . Anyone else ever have issues with their RE not listening to them? or used donor sperm?

to the forum EllenEK. I have not used donor sperm - but yea, it can take a few IUI cycles to get preg. My 1st IUI I got lucky... but had a m/c. Now I've done 3 with no luck.

If you are unsure about your REs advice - why don't you get a second opinion. Not sure about your insurance, and if the Dr visit is covered - but to put your mind at ease, you may want to do that.

I think the u/s shows the thickness of the lining - but not sure what else.

Good luck - these things are tough. Esp when we feel like we are on a time crunch - or limited money - or limited sperm

Hi, my name is Lisa and I am 36 years old and DH is 40. I conceived my son naturally in 2006 and have now learned that I have Diminished Ovarian Reserve (6 follicles in right and 5 on the left). I am going to start Gonal-F and Ovidrel next month and then do my first IUI. I am very nervous and thought this would be a great place to get support and alot of information. Thanks!

Hi everyone - I am 27 and my husband is 31. We have been married for 4 years this April. At first, we didn't try to get pregnant, but never tried to prevent it either. One day in October of 2007 I took a preg test b/c I suspected I might be prego, and it was a BFP!!! I couldn't wait to tell the dh, but wanted to tell him in person, not over the phone - so I had it all planned out, went and bought him a card and was so excited - it just like I always wanted it to be. About a couple hours b/4 he got home, I started spotting, and then started bleeding pretty heavy. My heart was broken. I wen to the doctor and was 6 weeks when I miscarried. Ever since we have ttc naturally, but nothing - so my doc referred me to a fertility specialist. My first appointment was 2/5/09, started my cycle on 2/7/09, took 50mg of Clomid days 5-9, had the Ovidrel shot on 2/21/09, and had my first IUI 2/23/09! This is all happening very fast. We are both very excited, but trying not to get our hopes up. I am hoping for a BFP! And my prayers are with all of you

Introduction

Just a little hello to everyone. I am (hopefully) about to start my second IUI cycle. I look forward to being with other women who understand this whole IF thing and how much it sucks. It feels great to be in a place where you won't get advice to relax, take a vacation etc. from people who simply don't get it!

starting IUI

Started IUI cycle last month, but they may cancel due to 8-9 follicles (14.1 - 18.1 mm) - one may be polyovarian cyst. Not sure what the true risk of multiples is.

my intro

I came across this forum after googling something and thought it would be a good idea to get insight from others that may be going thru similar issues.

My husband and I are in our early 30's and TTC on and off for 7 years. I have PCOS; husband has no fertility issues. Initially I was taking a mix my gyno had me on but never seemed to work. Finally last year we went to see a specialist and he recommended IUI and some weight loss. I lost weight and to my surprise in Nov 08 went to the emergency room w/ severe pelvic pain turns out it was ectopic pregnancy. Bittersweet I guess. I had a D&C and a shot of methatrexate (sp?) waited 2 cycles, HSG came back normal and just did my first IUI last week. We are excited and nervous all at the same time. The past 2 days I have had some ovary pain and it makes me nervous but I am trying to stay positive
I go and have my first progestrone level check tomorrow. Hopefully all will go well.

I look forward to chatting with folks! Thanks in advance for your support!

I've been reading the forum for a while now and joined today! Right now, I'm in the 2WW of my first IUI cycle.

I'm now 36 and I married the man of my dreams 2 1/2 years ago. We've been trying to conceive for 1 1/2 years. I think it's funny that after spending most of my life taking every precaution not to get pregnant, now I can't.

Here's my story: Our infertility is considered "unexplained," but there have been so many question marks along the way. I'm in otherwise good health, my ovarian reserve is good and I ovulate like clockwork every month on a clockwork cycle. My HSG test was inconclusive, as my right tube did not fill at all. It is likely that this was caused from a uterine spasm, but without going in and physically looking at the tube, we can't be sure. DH initially had a low normal SC of 36M but only 19% motility and average morphology. We decided to try 3 medicated cycles of IUI and will then move on to IVF if we need to. Our first IUI doesn't look so promising. DH's SC dropped in half and with the low motility our post-wash count was 1.7 M. I dodn't know if anyone has had success with such a low number, especially on the first try. I know it only takes 1 good little swimmer, and maybe now that all those directionally-challenged guys are out of the way, that one champ has a chance. Who knows! But realistically, I know our chances are not so good. I was also a bit dismayed to learn that my progesterone at 5 dpiui was 9.44 - slightly lower than the 10 my RE wanted to see. Why my RE tests this on Day 5 and not Day 7 is a mystery to me! In any case, I get to take the lovely suppositories now. YAY. So that's where we are today.

Anyway, I'm happy to be on this forum. I love that it is so active, and I've been cheering for so many of you these past few weeks I've been reading.
It WILL happen! to all!

Hello all
We are going to have our first iui this weekend (hopefully). It has been a month. We have been trying naturally for 6 months, my husband had a high wbc count which was slowing down his sperm and making a lot of them pinhead.

In the last two weeks we have both gotten all of our genetic blood work (no genetic defects) shew, had my hsg on tuesday (tubes are fine) and on friday I will go and have my ovaries measured and told when to take my shot. Oh he is on two different antibiotics, i was on my clomad and one antibiotic.

I am excited about the process. Thought about adding actupuncture to the process but i thought i would wait and see how this month goes.

Just trying to stay calm and relaxed. The clomad was okay for me while i was on it, but this week I feel a little light headed probably from the antibiotics.

Think that is my story for now.
