new

I am new to this site and looking for support. I feel like my husband and I are so alone in this process. The only family I have left is my brother and I find it hard to talk to him about fertility.

My friends are supportive but say everything wrong (you know, like "it will happen" or "you’re trying too hard"). I know I need to communicate with people who really know how I feel.

Any suggestions to good forums with supporting people are greatly appreciated. I am already glad I found this site

We just had our 2nd IUI on May 28.

I just joined this site today after making myself completely crazed when attempting to obtain accurrate info on the success rates of an IUI. My husband and I have been trying to conceive now for almost 2 years with no success. We have both been tested and we are both "fine." We were given the dx of unexplained infertility. I started Clomid 100mg yesterday and will be returning to the RE on 6/11 for the 1st follicle measurements. Post + ovulation, an IUI will be performed. I am hoping that it works, but it appears that the actual success of this procedure is minimal...very saddened by this as we so desperately long to have a child.

please help with a technical question...I'm so new to forums, i have a couple of questions. there are so many new posts/threads but there are a few that pertain to me and I have done a post but when I go back a day or two later, I have no idea which thread I've posted in. Is there a way to highlight or "mark" the threads that I'm making posts in and trying to join so that when I log in they automatically appear. I try to remember the names of the discussions but I start to get confused because I read a lot of the posts....I also have no idea how to start a new thread???thank you

Newbie Here

Good Morning, my name is Jessica I am 29 years old, husband is 31. We have been married for over 2 years now and have had problems with getting pregnant. In December of 08 we went to see a fertility doctor who ran some tests. My husbands sperm analysis came back with poor morphology, only 2% of his sperm are normal, all of my test results were fine. We have tried on our own for awhile longer with no success. We are moving towards IUI in July, actually meeting with the doctor today to discuss with him. I have been reading online which has scared me so I found this forum to get some help and support. I look forward to talking with others in the same boat as us and making new friends.

Jessica

New to the IUI world, too!

Hi Jess,

I am too very new to the forum and have been TTC now for approx 2 years with no success. I have just started the basics of my first IUI cycle and I am on Clomid 100mg/day for 5 days and will be returning to the RE on 6/11 to have the follicles checked and have a better idea as to when the actual IUI will be performed. I find it very disheartening that there are so few success stories posted of IUI's and the expense is a cause for stress when you consider doing more than 2 and then the possibility of going with IVF. It's really hard to feel positive when there are so few positives noted on here. My RE advised that once the sperm is "washed" only the good sperm is injected, but the success percentages are anywhere from 2%-26% depending on a whole assortment of factors. Good luck to you and your husband...we apparently all need it!

TTC: approx 2 years
Married
Dx: Unexplained infertility
1st RE consult: 5/18/09
Rx: Clomid 100mg

1st IUI: too be determined

Thank you for your post PinkGiraffes, I am going to ask all the questions I can this afternoon, I will let you know what the doc says. It is very disheartening, we have also tried for over 2 years. We cannot afford the IVF so if this doesnt work I dont know what we will do. I am going to stay positive though at least try my hardest to stay positive. Good luck to you as well, keep me posted with your IUI and how it all goes. Our first one will hopefully be in July.

Jessica ~ At the bottom of the page you type your reply there is a place to subscribe to threads. The notification is under user cp, top left. If you want to start a new thread go to the page listing all the treads and its toward the top left.

PinkGiraffes ~ My RE says IUI success rate is 17%. Not to completely contradict you but there are a lot of women on here that had successful IUI's. Im surprised youre discouraged. When I first joined I loved reading the signatures and seeing all the women that are preganant on here. You need to keep reading. There have been THOUSANDS of success strories. Look under Infertility treatments, IUI, and there is a BFP thread.

thank you for being here as a support network and welcome to any newcomers. I am one.
I just wanted to say hi. I have not finished reading but I love what I have seen so far(my computer hates me and boots me off at regular intervals)I am excited I just went for my first and only IUI. Hope it takes they did not say we had to but that it would slightly increase our odds and since it is so hard to get a good follicle (I only have one good side)we agreed. My DH should be proud they said he had 26 million swimmies for the procedure today. Anything over 3 mil produces the same pregnancy rates. hopin for Don't know how I'll get thru the next few weeks feel lightheaded already thinking about it glad you all are here and I'm praying for you.

new

Hi,
I'm new here too. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for five years, but we have taken some time off from TTC during those years for mental health reasons. I've been reading these forums for years and figured that it was time to contribute. We had our first IUI on 5/30/09. I had intense cramping last night (6dpiui), which I have never gotten before, even with the two m/c's. Please let it be a good sign and please let me be able to fight the urge to POAS. Even when I know it's too early, I can't help but be disappointed when I see a BFP.
Thanks for listening!

New here...

Hi all. I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. DH and I have been married for just over a year and been TTC since Nov. 2007. This is second infertility for me, I have a wonderful 10 year old little boy from a previous relationship, and my hubby has no children. He has motility/mobility issues and I have hostile cm. Not a good combination, obviously. We recently attempted our first IUI but, due to complications getting into my uterus (apparently it needs a road map !! ) we converted to ICI. I received a bfn this morning and so will be moving onto lap surgery and hcg in July and then ,hopefully, another IUI shortly thereafter. Since my hubby is a Soldier and possibly deploying at the end of the year, we're in a race against time...Hoping and praying to conceive before he leaves me for a year !!! I have been following alot of posts and obsessing over symptoms here and finally decided to join. Thank you for sharing with me!! (Even if you all didnt know you were !! Grins...)

Thanks so much, Naomi. It isnt the easiest thing but I have to say that we've been very blessed with an RE that is understanding, supportive, and determined. Also, if all else fails, we've decided we're not against freezing some of the little guys and continuing on after he leaves. Imagine explaining that bfp to the inlaws...Teehee. I'm very appreciative of the support and hope that I can be of some support to you all as well !!!

Hi all. I'm new here. We've been TTC for 3 yrs now. Me & DH is 32y/o. Started on clomid 3 cycle, then a combo of clomid and gonal-f 1 cycle, both . Then we did gonal-f with iui. First one, but had a m/c. I had severe OHHS too. 2nd iui, more conserative with medications because we're afraid I'll have OHHS again. It was a . We were suppossed to start another cycle this June but I have a cyst on my left ovary so RE decided to skip this month and refer us for an IVF consult. We are still considering doing another cycle of iui before leaping to ivf...maybe..
I'm glad I found this forum. It gives us hope and a place to vent and belong...

Hello ladies, i am new here. I just really need some support right now. Let me just tell you a little about myself. Husband and I have been together since we were 15 yrs old and now we are 30. We finally got married September 05. We tried for a year on ower own to get pregnant, but nothing. So my obgyn put me on clomid for 6 months and then added ovrdrel in dec. of 07 and i got pregnant. Well in feb i lost the baby. I was devistated. I tried clomid and ovidrel 6 more months and nothing. Well anyway I went to a fertility specialist and he said i had unexplained fertility. I had my first iui on May 26 2009. I was using menopur and ovidrel. I test tuesday and My nurse called just a few mins. ago and I go back friday at 9:45 for ultrasound and bloodwork. I am trying again. I am so sorry it is so long but I just need someone to talk to. THANKS FOR LISTENING. I AM PRAYING FOR ALL YOU LADIES
