INSPRIEDBYHANNAH & MMASON, Looks like I'm joining you! I'll be doing IUI sometime around the beginning of October! I have been on Femara multilpe times... it's really not bad. I haven't had ANY side effects, and I usually ovulate pretty well on it! I have also taken Follistim (FSH) which I believe is similar to Gonal-F. I give myself shots on anerage of about 11 days per month when I'm on the FSH... the shot you give yourself the night before IUI, typically is a "trigger shot" to induce ovulation, they're not to bad either, except that its not the pen, it's a pre-filled syringe... they all us pretty tiny needles... anyways, this will be my first IUI! And I'm WAYYY excited!

Newbie afraid of what the future might bring

Hi,
I am brand new to the forum and not quite sure where to start. Well me and my DH have been trying for 3 years to have a baby. Two years ago I became pregnant naturally but unfortunately lost the baby at 11 weeks. This was devastating. For the last 2 years we have been trying to concieve without any success. After the miscarriage my body began to change as well. My periods where very long cycles and I just wasnt getting pregnant. After several visits with my OBGYN she finally sent me to a fertility specialist. He did a whole workup and then the bad new came pouring down. Firstly I found out I have PCOS. On top of that I found out that I have a clotting disorder (MTHFR) which is what probably caused my miscarriage and on top of that my DH sperm count is significantly low. Things don'tlook to promising.Anyway the MD whats to start with IUI right away and honestly I am afraid>>>>My DH says I should be excited but for the last 3 years I have had nothing but disappointments. At this point I guess what I am looking for is some hopefully words and positive stories from people who have been through the same thing I am going through. I need some sort of advice that well help me to proceed with the IUI and make me feel like there is a chance this will work.

Please help me
Juliana

Yay Flash! Lets all that October is a good month!! should be here this weekend...I'm SO ready to get this started!! This past week or so seems like its dragging! I;ve been reading a lot of success stories and its getting me hyped up!
I will have to do the HCG trigger shot...I'm not sure if I can give it to myself(and my DH would probably pass out if he had to do it! LOL). I think if it were a pin, I could do it. I just don't know. Where do you inject it? Man I sound like a wimp!

Can't wait to hear both of your experiences MMason and Flashgal!!

Juliana, definitely surf around and read some success stories. It helps me so much to keep hope alive. A friend of mine has the same clotting disorder and she was able(after having miscarriages) to get pregnant and carry to term. Unfortunately I'm not sure of her exact treatment but I'm sure if your with a good RE he will put you o the right track! Keep your head up.

Good luck ladies!!

Juliana, I too have MTHFR,,, I miscarried twice before I had my son and twice after.. When I became pregnant with my son, my doctor put me on baby asprin, one a day... I truley belive that is the reason I have a funny happy healthy 3 year old.. I recently went through my 1st round of IVF and started Lovenox shots (blood thinners) the day of my transfer... Im currently 23 weeks pregnant with another boy...

You can always start the baby asprin now, it wont hurt you (it's a very low dose ).. I used the St. John's brand... When you start your treatments, discuss Lovenox or Heparin with your doctor... Even though the shots are a little tiresome (brusing and lumps) it will be soooo worth it in the end....

Good Luck, Tiffany

Thank you guys

I am so happy you guys welcomed me so warmly. I feel like I am not alone now. For the last few days I have been doubtful about the entire procedure but now I feel like this might really happen. At this point I am waiting for my to start the shots. Are there any sort of side effects that I might experience with the shots? Not quite sure what to expect? I am a little nervous. MMASON and Kelly let me know how your IUI go. I will definitely say a for you guys. Tiffany congratulations on your pregnancy. Honestly I have never heard of MTHFR and felt like that might make things even more difficult for me but obviuosly it is treatable which is reassuring. Keep me up to date on your progress.

Hello. I am new here. I have unexplained infertility. I have tried 3 IUI's without meds and no luck. I am starting meds now. Today, I started BCP. I will begin Lupron in a few weeks and then move through Menopur, Gonal-f and Ovidrel for IUI #4.

Thank you for sharing your stories of encouragement.

HI,
I was just wondering if any of you girls can tell me a little about your journey with IUI? Kind of naive to the situation.
Were there any weird frighten things you experienced such as bleeding pains etc...?
Was your preganancy considered high risk?
Were you able to work through out your preganacy or were you put on bedrest?
Did you deliver early?
Did anyone every end up with multiple pregnancies? If so how was that experience?
Did you gain a tremendous amount of weight with injections?
How was your diet were you told not to exercise?
What exactly is superovulation and did anyone experience that?

I probably have a billion more questions but that good for starts.
Thanks,

Red face Just Joined Today

I have been reading all the posts on IUI. So I decided to join since it is good to talk to poeple going through the same thing. I put a question on the forum and bless everyones heart got lots of comfortiong answers.

I had my first IUI (Follistum shots/Ovidrel) on 9/8 and I did the test today BFN . However the forum told me I did the test too early and wait till the 12-14 so got more hope . I am praying to have another miracle like my first one.

I have some symptoms but then I am on progestrone so I think part of the symptoms are related to that. My temperature has been elevated but I think it is becasuse of the hormones.

Please pray for me .

New to forum

Hi Everyone, I'm so excited that I found this forum this morning. My name is Stacey and I'm 30 Years Old. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost 10 months straight now. We tried 5 years ago for about One year (after every Lapro Surgery, but no meds). Hopefully now that I'm in good hands with a infertility doctor and taking medicine we will get our baby!! I have stage 3 Endometriosis. I take clomid (have been for 5 months now, then I have a shot that makes me ovulate. We did our 2nd IUI yesterday, so now I'm in the waiting game. I really hope it's okay that I'm drinking a sugarfree monster right now. I need to study my school (I went back to school a year and a half ago). Anyway, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing our stories. We decided not to tell our family what we are going through from here on out b/c they were so overwhelming, so it will be nice to have people to talk to!! Good Luck to all of you!!!!
Stacey

I have 2 fur babies- Cody & Duke that are my life

Question

HI Everyone, this website has been so helpful! I just logged on Sat after my first IUI. I am very new, and I am not sure of all the abbreviations and symbols yet. I'm 31 and my husband and I have been trying for three years, and nothing. I have never been pregnant. I have PCOS and we thought maybe that was the problem. I had a hysteroscopy in March and the only thing they found was another cyst. My husband had a reversal 3 years ago, and his count is above normal. I have a lot of cramping not sure if it is b/c of the progest. How much progesterone did you all do? I am doing 100mg at night and in the morning, but I am so miserable I have only been doing the ones at night, I am not sure if that is wise. My BB's hurt so bad and they are so big, Any advice? I did the Gonal RFF and then ovadril before the IUI. I'm just not sure about all these meds, I feel so emotional! thanks for listening!

First IUI 2ww

Hi! I have been TTC for 7 months with a long history of hormonal woes! I just had my first IUI this past Friday and am 3dpiui. I have been reading these statistics in IUI and I really would have thought they would be higher....any happy stories of success with IUI would be greatly appreciated while in the 2ww.

BFPs for all!
