hello everyone. i'm new to this forum and happy that i've come into contact with people with whom we share anxieties, smiles and tears. i had my 1st IUI about 2 weeks ago. i was due for preg. test today, but my af came 2 days ago! i felt too devastated to cry! my mind became blank! but am naturally a strong woman, so i chose to look on the positive side. i really want to know about people who have done IUI and succeeded and after how many trials?

i look forward to sharing with you.

Hi! Thanks for your reply. I guess that yesterday I was very disappointed and just wanted to quit! But today is another day.
My lining was 4.8 and my follicle was 18. I'm on my 13 day, that's why they want to do the IUI on Friday. The cost of the IUIs for me are very expensive, they are charging about $3200 for each one. That is why I'm thinking about not having it done this month. My insurance will only cover three and this will be my second. It's a hard decision to make but if the chances are so low, I might wait until next month. I cannot believe the difference in prices!! Can I ask you...where do you live?

Response to Question

I can see why you would want to cancel your cycle. That is a lot of $$ to shell out and if your insurance will only pays for 3 IUI's, I wouldn't want to take my chances either. My insurance pays a flat lifetime maximum, so I can do however many cycles will fit into my lifetime max. My doctor's office charges $266 (that includes a sperm wash and the IUI procedure). That does not include all the FUS's, blood tests or medications, but since I've already paid hundreds of $$ in meds, what's another $266?? I live in MN, but maybe it would be worth while calling other doctor's to see if they charge the same. We are planning on doing 3 IUI's and moving on to IVF. I will find out tomorrow morning if they are going to cancel my first IUI cycle. I'm praying that follicle has grown. This is emotionally draining.

Good luck!!!! Hope the follicle is big enough!!
I had the IUI done on Friday as I called the Dr's office and complained about their price and bla bla bla. They called me back and said that they 'made a mistake' in prices...and now I'm able to have 8 IUIs. Suddenly the price went from $3200 to $350...what a difference!! I thought about what you said "this could be the month" and went ahead and did it, now I have to wait the famous two weeks!! My lining is thin but I still hope for the best.
As you say, all this is emotionally draining and I think it takes too much out of us. But I'm not giving up.
Good luck and please let me know about your IUI.

Great news!

That's interesting. Seems like a pretty big "mistake" to me. Keep me posted on your results. Looks like my cycle is bust. I'm back to BCP's. Hopefully, you'll be posting a next.

Hi Im christin dh is Zeb. We have been ttc for a little over 3 years. We managed somehow to get preg on our own last november but I lost the pregnancy due to a blighted ovum. We have tried 2 IUI's w/clomid BFN and we recently went through a GIFT cycle which is very similar to ivf but it was a bfn. We are getting ready to start our first IUI w/injectables this month. I go for my baseline ultrasound tomorrow.

We started out with MF infertility because dh's first s/a showed only 3million total count, second one showed 12 million total. Dh has started taking better care of himself and his counts have progressively gotten higher. Last one was 56 million after a sperm wash! Ive been through all the different tests, and had a Laparoscopy, an HSG, and a SHG everything checks out fine.

Ive really got my fingers crossed with this cycle.

35 and trying to conceive

Hello Everyone,

My name is Shawn and my partner and I are now trying to conceive. Right now I am under the care of an infertility specialist. I had my first iui with donor sperm on July 3rd. It's my hope that this process does not take too long!

I am currently 9 days past the iui and I really feel like is going to show up. I don't feel pregnant at all!

I am a little upset with my doctor because I was told to order two viles but because I got the LH surge on July 3rd the nurse said the doctor said one vile is good enough. The office was closed the next day. Go figure!

IUI - July 3rd.

Nalongo! I hope that name comes true for you! I got pg on 1 IUI cycle, but unfortunately for me it was an ectopic. I am pretty sure that IUIs will be successful for us because we don't have sperm issues and my eggs seem to be good. Our problem is holding on to pregnancies (we lost 2 previously to m/c.

I am sorry about AF, but you have a really great attitude and it will surely happen for you soon!

Are you currently in Uganda? I have always been fascinated by Africa and would love to go someday...

2nd IUI - day one after

wow, still trying to figure out all those short terms on here ...:-)

so if I got it right, I'm first day of the 2ww (2 weeks wait?) of my second IUI - which is most likely also going to be my last since our insurance covers meds only for 2 cycles.

First one failed - not sure why, I started bleeding one day before the scheduled pregnancy test (okay, haven't figured out the short term for this one) and it was a very odd kind of bleeding, without wanting to bring up details.

I can't get pregnant the natural way because my pituitary gland doesn't produce and LH on its on - haven't even had a natural menst. cycle in over 3 years. HD (Husband donor?) sperm are below average but the doc. says it was still okay as far as they can see now.

2nd IUI I had 2 to 4 mature follicles after Menopur and Ovidrel inject. and the IUI yesterday. The sperm count after washing looked bad - don't remember all the numbers but it was 3.5 Mio after washing and 50% motility..I guess it may still be possible, but 'm trying not to ge my hopes too high.

In case something did work out, is there any way to enhance implantation? I read somewhere eating pineapples supposedly helps - but that may just one of those fairy tales... doesn't matter, I'm stuffing myself with pineapples as I'm writing this

Hiya

Hi guys!

My husband and I started trying to conceive #1 in 2002 and, after 13 months and right before we were to start fertility testing, got a BFP. We were totally excited and overwhelmed, we were convinced it would never happen for us without some help.

Our initial plan was to start trying for #2 when our DD turned 1. We decided to wait for a while, in part so I could lose 50 lbs and hopefully increase our chances for an "oops" baby.

We started trying for #2 in April, 2006 when our DD turned 2. We tried not to focus on it for a few months, then we focused on it a lot for a few more, but still no BFP. My ObGyn ran some tests and refered us to an RE. We don't really like him, but he is the only one within 100 miles.

We started an IUI cycle this July with the IUI administered on July 16 (could that be only 4 days ago? It feels like 4 years.) I have been googling and searching and thinking of nothing else which is how I stumbled across this forum.

Good luck to everyone! I am looking forward to reading all your entries obsessively!

Amy

Hello everyone!

My name is Amber and my Dh Phillip have been TTC naturally for about 13months. I have had all the work up and everything is fine, my DH s/a is perfect (our 1st IUI it was 181mil 60 percent motility!) The conclusion that my OB and RE have determined is that I don't produce CM, my cervix is pretty scarred (I have endo) from all the cone biopsy's and colposcopy, and every other test i have had! THey did the post coital test two times and both times the sperm were dead in my cervix. I am currently on my 2WW which is torture!! I will know by the end of this weekend if our first IUI turns into a . I am glad to be here and it's a great support group!!! Thank you ladies!! Good luck to all of you!!
