I had a long talk with my RE nurse today about my p4 number.

While she did say that I am not a complete bust for IUI cycle #2 - she didn't sound too optimistic.

So, we discussed next steps which will be a medicated cycle.

I told her my concerns about side effects, the chance of over-stimulating and the chance of multiples (we are just not financially or emotionally prepared for multiples). We agree that if its G-D's plan for us, then so be it, but we do not want to tempt fate either.

So, she went over again, what my protocol would be and it would be what she called a mini-stim.

On CD2 - ultrasound and urine test
CD3-CD7 - clomid
CD9 - injectible either gonal-f or follistim
CD12 - ultrasound and trigger
CD13 or 14 - IUI or B2B IUI's

She said that the doses they would do would be low and chances of OHSS would be low as well - as I am clearly ovulating and since back in Feb my P4 was 21.9 after ovulation.

So, I am def feeling better about this cycle and prepared for what will come if we move on to cycle #3.

Has anyone else ever heard the term mini-stim?

Haven't heard of mini-stim but it sounds like a great protocol for you especially since you have a good p4.

One dose of the inject along with the clomid is probably going to be just perfect for you. Are they going to do an u/s on day 7 or 9 to see where you are with the clomid?

I did a similar protocol for my first 3 IUI's. I had one follicle one month, two follicles the next month, then one follicle. (See signature below). I would not worry too much about over-stimulating or multiples. If you end up producing more follicles than you are comfortable with, you can always cancel the cycle.

I remember when we did our first medicated IUI cycle, I had the same concerns. In looking back, my concerns were totally unfounded. By the time I got to the third IUI I was wishing I had more than 5 follicles!!!
