new

Hello I am very new to this and just wanted to see how everyone else deals with all of this. My husband and I are both 26 yrs old and have been TTC for about 3-4 years and recently found out that he has a low sperm count. First we went and he saw a urologist but they found no reason why his count is low. All his blood work is great. I have passed everything with flying colors too. We have tried IUI with Clomid & with Prometrium 3 times without luck. We are in our waiting period for our fourth time. I have had an HSG and that was normal. My blood work and ultrasound is always good. Any words of advice on how to stay sane and motivated would greatly be appreciated.

manda, first of all , you ask how we all stay sane, well I think groups like this would most definately be how I stay sane. I could not have gotten through my first failed IVF cycle without the girls on my IF groups. I am pretty new on this site, you will find a lot of great comforting people, who have lots of words of wisdom and encouragement. We all have our moments of weakness, then somehow we just pick ourselves back up, that is the only way to get to the prize at the end of this journey. I wish you much luck and just know that one day at a time is all we have. Hopefully you will get your within this new year!!!

I drink a lot...no really I do...ok just kidding but I think the best way to deal with it is to have hope that you will get your little miracle. We also try to keep ourselves busy doing things we really enjoy (he likes hunting and I love to scrapbook)...and I have to tell you I think our relationship is soooo much stronger and we are closer than ever! And I will tell you that the more you educate yourself the better because you really need to know your stuff so that you know if your doc/nurse knows their stuff, ya know?! And look at the small steps forward as a great thing, because sometimes there are so many setbacks that each step forward should be celebrated! And you didn't mention why DH cound is low....I have heard that certain suppliments and meds can help with that. My DH urologists prescribed him Clomid, of all things, but I told him he had to call my nurse to see if she thought it was a good idea...she is not really sure it will help at this point, but you might want to ask your doc about it! I could babble on some more but I will just say good luck and try and stay positive, even though sometimes it seems imposible, sometimes the imposible happens, some ladies on this forum are proof of that =) Sending baby dust your way!

I wish I had some great answers about how to keep your mind off of it, but I dont think there are any. Like some of the other girls I try to stay into a lot of hobbies and stay busy. The ladies on here are a great support system and that helps a lot too. Just try to stay positive and we will all be here for you when you need us.

manda! my DH has a low sperm count also. his is actually so low, that IUI's won't work for us. we have to do IVF.
i'm sorry your first 3 IUI's didn't work. is it possible you can try IVF? i know it's expensive, but it will all be worth it in the end.
as for staying sane, well, as the other girls mentioned, keep busy with hobbies, or other activities. you'll have good days and bad days.
i think that when you go back to your RE and come up with your next plan of action, you'll feel more in control.
IF makes us realize how strong we really are. because knowing that someday, we will be rewarded with our greatest desire....a child.
good luck to you, and keep up with the board. you will be amazed how other ladies stories help you find peace with yours.

Hi and !
You will find a lot of support, advise and encouragement on this site! The ladies are fantastic and you will probably end up calling all of them friends!

I am very sorry you had previous BFN's, but try to stay positive and keep working on it. Our little miracles will shine one day!

As far as staying sane, I try to keep myself busy with work, around the house, sports, an of course... I spend a lot of time on this site. It is comforting when you know there are so many other ladies with the same problem as you. It feels easier to go through things knowing you are not alone.

Keep us posted on your progress!!!

Well, for me it has been about giving this over to God and asking Him to deal with it and give me peace about it. I struggled for a long time with wanting to be in control of this, but I realized that I don't have control, God does. He has given me a peace like I would have never dreamed was possible.

Good luck with your 2ww!
