consult with RE

I went for my consult with my RE today.

He wants to do a hysteroscopy and a laparoscopy (at the same time) followed by IUI with meds. I really want to move forward, but there's a 3-4 waiting period for the surgery and it might be a month or more before I can even get a date. I'm so frustrated.

He says I can continue with the IUIs in the meantime. Even though there's absolutely nothing that suggests something might be wrong (well, apart from the 6 failed IUIs, anyway) and some of my tests were even better than normal for someone my age, there's no way to know if another IUI would be worth doing or just a waste of money.

I don't want to wait 4 months, but neither do I want to waste my money. But I also want to feel as though I am doing something.

I can go ahead with another IUI (I should ovulate in the next couple of days), but if I sit out this cycle I'll probably have to sit out next cycle too (I'll likely ovulate during my RE office Christmas closure).

In the end, I'll probably just go with my gut, but as always, encouragement and suggestions are very welcome... in the meantime, I'm waiting for a surgery date.

decisions decisons

If somebody can tell you the best thing to do, please have them call me next! I too have several failed IUI's and was contemplating jumping straight to IVF. I know everybody is different, but for me it is hard to determine where or if there is a problem. I have not tried to conceive except for the three IUI's. Most women have been trying for a long while before using assistance/looking for reasons. We may be in the same boat... Who is to say whether or not there are problems? If you do not feel right sitting out for such a long time can you look into another doctor doing the procedure? Is that normal for such a long wait? Or, you can look at it as a nice way to take a break from ttc during the holiday. I chose to try a medicated round, if no pregnany, then do the lap... At my age, I feel skipping one month is like a younger lady skipping a year? I just do not have than may fertile months left! Best of luck with your choice, I am sure whatever you choose will be the right choice because it is the one you make!!
