Question on Betas
I have read in several posts where people are talking about having their Betas checked. I have tried to fine information on this online, but can't find any. I have been getting IUI's for 6 months and used clomid last month, but I have never had my Betas checked. Is this usually done with everyone? I want to ask my Doctor about it, but not sure what it even is to ask if I should be getting mine checked too. anyway...any help you all can give me would be great!!!!

Merry:31 Partner (Michelle):32 12/14/07: IUI 12/28/07:  1/18/08: IUI 1/31/08: February: took break 3/29/08: IUI 4/12/08: 4/17/08: Finally started 50mg clomid!!! 4/29/08: IUI 5/13/08:  and came the next day (14th)5/30/08: IUI (getting settled in for the 2ww) 5/13/08 june '08-took much needed break 7/30/08-IUI with 100 mg clomid and hcg shot Aug and Sept. '08-took break October--canceled IUI--only 1 egg matured November--Starting Gonal F shots at the end of the month hopefully. With an estimated IUI time around the beginning part of December  to see a  as an early X-mas present!!!

I believe when you get your beta checked, its checking your hcg levels when you are pregnant. Hope that helped!

Me: 33 PCOS Dh: 32; low motility 1st IUI with RE: May 2005 Gonal F and ovidrel DS: 2 years old and my sweet boy! 1st IUI 10/07 gonal f and ovidrel 2nd IUI 12/07 gonal f and ovidrel but was bleeding. Turned out to be either ectopic or an abnormal pregnancy...  3rd IUI 3/28/08 gonal f and ovidrel Started gonal f injections 5/15 IUI on 5/26 6/9 -  1st Beta - 86 2nd Beta - 247 3rd Beta - 1,179 4th Beta - 2,799 U/S on 6/20 - saw one sac! U/S on 7/3 - heard hb 162! U/S on 7/31 - saw lots of movement  NT Scan on 8/4 - hb 175! Ob appt 8/28 - everything looks good! Anatomy scan 9/25 - still looking good!

with an IUI - most RE's only check your beta if you get a positive HPT.

Me (Krista) - 29 - all tests seem fine  DH - 28 - slightly low strict morphology and volume ttc 2 years IUI #1 - 4/2/08 (used clomid, ovidrel, and progesterone supplements) 5/2/08 - IUI #2 (same protocol) 5/16/08 - Beta test 6/3/08 IUI #3 (same protocol) 6/17/08 - 8/1/08 - IUI #4 (this time 25mg clomid with bravelle added - ovidrel and prometrium, of course) 8/15/08 - beta test currently taking a month off 9/2 - meeting with RE to decide how to proceed 2 more months off! 11/19/08 - baseline u/s and b/w -- Here we go again! Hi. I never had betas done until I started progesterone suppositories which will stop (delay) your AF. So, they want beta done to know if you should stop taking progesterone suppositories or not. When I was just on clomid, I POAS and waited for AF.
