back at it

Hi. My name is Nicole. I am 30 years old and TTC baby #2. Back in 2003, my DH and I got married and started TTC right away. I had been diagnosed with PCOS in the past, so we knew it might take a while to get pg. We ended up doing 10 months of Clomid, 3 of them w/IUI. We went through all of the routine tests (SA, HSG, etc.)
After 10 months of Clomid, I was a wreck; it made me crazy. All the while, my SIL gets pregnant with her second child while still on her birth control patch. (Why is it that when you're TTC, everyone has to tell you just how easy it is for them?) After the Clomid, my DH and I decided to take a break.
After about 6 months, a new Infertility Clinic opened in our small town (the other one was 1 hour away.) We took that as a sign and decided to try again. The RE decided it was time for injectibles. We did 1 round of Follistim, no IUI, and got pregnant! We had a beautiful beby boy March of 2006.
So, here we are. Our son is 2 1/2 years old and we're ready for another one. Back in the spring of 08, I was having a ton of pain. I ended up having a laparoscopy and they found tons of scar tissue throughout my pelvic region (most likely from my c-section.) My DH and I recently saw a world-renowned uterine/tubal reconstructionist who gave us his opinion. He thinks everything looks okay now and that we can go ahead and TTC again. There's just a minimal risk of ectopic.
So we spoke to my RE and we're going to try a couple months on this newer medicine, Letrozole. Anyone with any thoughts on it??? OH....and of course, now that we're going back to infertility treatments...guess who's pregnant? My SIL again!!! She had just recently said she wasn't going to have another one and wanted her tubes tied. But she and my MIL just had to point out that she got pregnant anyway, without even trying. It's just so easy for some people, isn't it??
Hope everyone's dreams come true!!

HI and yes it does seem awfully easy for some to conceive and often times it is right when you are having troubles-been there. Just block it all out.
Funny:my sil was always saying how she was so fertile so finally I told her if she was so fertile she would have more than 3. I told her fertile people get pregnant one behind the other, no matter what they do. It shut her up cause I was tired of hearing about it. I wish I could tell you a couple other tricks to help you deal but that is the only one I know-give'm a quick comparison that knocks them down a notch. I am not a vengeful person, usually I sit and act as though I am not even listening, like what they are saying does not matter.
I wish I could tell you something about letrozole but I do not know about that one. Good Luck and give those fertile braggers heck (kidding)-Lots of Luck!!!!

femara

Hi, I took femara (letrazole) this cycle along with a very low dose of gonal f. the letrazole seems to work really well for a lot of people, it is intended to get one good egg, not multiple eggs. for me, it did just that, I had one 19mm egg but it was on the wrong side. i only have one tube.

so, back to full gonal f cycle I go.
best wishes!

I took Femara alone and it didn't work for me by itself. Then last month I took Femara and Menopur injections and I produced 3 nice follies but got a
This cycle I am doing the same (Femara & Menopur) but will do an IUI instead.
Femara works by itself for some but my RE said that the Menopur just really helps it work better.
GL to you

Hello Ladies,

I have searched this site over for other people on letrozole (Femara). Apparently, Clomid is way more popular. I'm on my first cycle with Femara and am now on cycle day 18. I'm anxious to know whether it worked, but am trying to be patient. We have not moved to IUI or injections, and I'm hoping we don't have to.

I know what you guys mean, it seems like everyone around me is pregnant, and most of them didn't even intend to get that way. Oh well.

Hope everyone is doing well and baby dust to all!

New to Letrozole

Hi everyone...I, too, will be starting Letrozole for the first time. I took two rounds of clomid 50mg and ovulated both times...But still not pregnant. I am not sure why my dr. wanted to switch me to Letrozole...I guess I will give it a try though. I am only doing Letrozole, no IUIs or injections yet. I took my first pill and hour ago, so I am nervous to find out what side effects there will be! Maybe we can all support each other though this month! I hope it works!!! GL to everyone!

I have done clomid which was awful for me.... side effects that is and had no results. After taking a break I took Letrozole and Ovidrel for 3 cycles and although it showed I ovulated each time we still didn't get pregnant. Then on my first round of Letrozole, Follistim and Ovidrel I got . I have never done IUI just timed relations so I have no insight on that. These doctors are so thoroughly trained that it just takes some trial and error to find the perfect combo for our bodies. Unfortunately this takes time. Hang in there... I'll be for your future miracles!
