Question Anyone had uterine polyps?

I am on my 4th round of Letrazole. I had a sonohystogram last week (day 9) to try and diagnose my irregular bleeding. I have a polyp in my uterus which will make it almost impossible to conceive this cycle. I am having a D&C Apr. 10. The symptom of this is irregular bleeding and increased bleeding after intercourse. I had these symptoms while taking Clomid too. I asked my RE if the meds could have caused them and he said no, but I think it is too much of a coincidence. It disappeared after the clomid left my system and returned a couple of months after beginning Femara. Has this happened to anyone?

I had multiple uterine polyps last spring and my RE required me to have them removed before I could qualify for his shared risk plan. When I saw my OB-GYN about doing the polypectomy, he asked me several times if I wanted the surgery because most polyps smaller than 10mm diameter expel on their own. Sure enough, when he got in there with a scope for the surgery the following week, they were all gone already.

I didn't take any medication for it, nor do I have any idea if I had polyps any other time before that. I didn't have the bleeding issues you mention, though my periods have always been very heavy. My point is that some women just have polyps and sometimes they go away by themselves and can also come back at any time.

I had a polyp removed in August, it was found with a HSG in October. During the surgery consult I was also told that there was a good chance it would be goon by the time they did the surgery. They were also careful to label it as a possisible polyp, the only way to diagnose it for sure is by surgery. With HSG’s and saline U/S they are just guessing it is a polyp, it could also be an air bubble, mucus, endrometriem lining that did not shed.

Like Casb said some women are more likely to develop polyps. I’v never heard of clomid causing them. I would suggest stopping fertility treatments until your have the polyps removed, they can stop implantation.

grrrr, i just had a tiny uterine polyp removed. RE said was less than the size of a tiny wart. I was to start IVF in May. Now have to be on birth control pills for the progesterone for an extra month, so IVF cycle moved to June.

I also had uterine polyps removed last December 2008, and it delayed my IVF cycle for a couple of weeks. Although it was very small, RE recommended removal so as not to cause any implantation problem. I've also read literatures about increased chance of pregnancy post uterine polypectomy (removal of uterine polyps).

My acupuncturist also told me to stop eating soy products while cycling because soy products, apparently, can cause uterine polyps as per Alternative Medicine.

Good luck.
