Hi All - I've been lurking for a little while reading success stories and have decided to post! My long story:
DH and I were married in 2005 and had not planned on having children. In late 2006 we scheduled DH for a vasectomy. In the weeks leading up to the surgery, I started having second thoughts. It was in the back of my mind for a while, but just sitting there, not really doing anything.
A few weeks before the surgery, I asked DH if he was sure he wanted to go through with it, was he also having second thoughts? He said he was, but thought I was certain and didn't say anything. We discussed it and decided that we weren't ready to make a permanent decision. We cancelled and decided to think about it for a year, so we did. MISTAKE. We should have started then.
Anyway, I went off BC in Jan 2008 and we started trying with no luck. Throughout the year my periods were getting progressively more painful. I suspected endo. I went to my GYN in Sep 2008 and she scheduled an HSG. They found one blocked tube, so she sent me to an RE. The RE scheduled surgery in Dec 2008. He scheduled 2 hours for the surgery assuming he was going in to remove a hydrosalpinx and stitch open the tube if good, remove if bad. The surgery took 4.5 hours and my DH was a wreck!
The RE came out and told him that I had extensive Stage IV endo on every single organ in my pelvis. He excised all of it. My tubes and ovaries were good; just covered by adhesions. DH was also evaluated by the RE and was perfect, of course.
So it's just me. Figures.
My RE gave me the Clomid challenge in Jan/Feb and I responded to it, so he decided to try drugs as I've been against the idea of IVF so far. He has started me on Femara, as he prefers that over Clomid. And so do I. Clomid really did turn me in to the Hulk, but strangely it was several days after my dosing.
Weird.
I took Femara this cycle. He had me take BC to suppress my ovaries, then stop and take 25 mg (yes 25, not 2.5) on CD2. I had a US on CD7 and had 2 18mm follies. The nurses were slightly concerned that I might have o'ed already, so they did a prog level stat. Prog level indicated no o yet, so they gave me an HCG trigger that afternoon. And we all know what my assignment was for that week. ahem.
Not sure if it all worked! I'm in the 2WW now. Went for a prog level this weekend, but don't know the results yet. I feel like it's higher than in past cycles. I'm tired and bbs are really sore, but its probably my imagination.
Thanks to all of you who come out and share such intimate details of your struggle. It's hard for me, as we really keep to ourselves. I've been foolish enough every month to think "next month, next month." Not so much. It's nice to know we aren't alone in our quest.
