Latrozole - any side effects to breast?

Does anybody concern that Latrozole is commonly used (FDA approved) for treating breast cancer patient? My Doctor wants me to take Letrozole after my first IUI with clomid failed, but when I saw on Letrozole package that it is commonly used for breast cancer patient, it kind of scares me, so I have not taken Letrozole yet. Is it safe to your breasts? How come it is mainly used for breast cancer patients?

Ja~ I haven't had any side effects. And from what I have read before I started using Femara, there is only a chance of birth deffects if you are already pregnant and take it.

This might help you

Thank you for reply

Hi, Thank you for replying to my post.

Do you know besides Clomid & Femara, any other oral medicine works the same to mature more eggs before IUI treatment?

From what I understand with the Femara, it works as an estrogen blocker. Many breast cancers are estrogen driven so by blocking the hormone, it slows the spread. With fertility, when you block estrogen it gives other hormones, like progesterone, a chance to increase. As far as birth defects, I've read that with ANY treatment you increase your chances. Femara has caused defects, as has Clomid, when taken when women were pregnant and didn't know.

This month will be my first round. When I first read that it was used in breast cancer treatment, it kinda freaked me out too! If you can call your RE's office and see if someone can discuss your concerns with you...thats what they're there for. I'm sure almost every women who takes this drug has the same initial reaction! Good luck!!
I hope this helps a little!
