Taking a break from infertility

Well i dont wanna give my whole story it will take hours! lol...but currently my hubby and i have decided to take a few months off from fertility. I am honestly heartbroken! We have done six IUI's and failed. We also suffered the loss of our doctor, whom we loved so much! I should be going in for my 2nd Lap. in August, until then were just gonna take it easy. I really am losing hope, i mean i just dont know if this is ever gonna happen for us...thanks for listening!

Sometimes a break is just what we need. We try to stick to 3 months on and then a month off for mental rest. We are on a long break right now. You have the advantage of age. I used to hate when people told me that, but I realized that my body doesn't want to behave in my 20's so we plan to adopt now and wait until I'm closer to 30 to try again. Sometimes it just takes time. Best of luck and enjoy your break.

Smile took a break too

hello I have had 4 artifical inseminations and now I am on my third round of IVF. I too had to take a break before this round. First of all I had to relieve some oof the stress. Give my poor body a break that has gained about 10 pounds. I just did my transfer last week and think this might be my round, wish me luck.

I went through 10 cycles of IUI. We have been on a break for about 3 months of fertility stuff. We went through classes to foster, had the homestudy. Now we have two boys living with us for a little while, ages 2 and 3. Our house is definately fuller and happier, but still wish we could have our own kids. I know exactly what you are going through.

Hi, I have three failed IUIs and each failure gets a little easier...but just slightly easier. I have a really hard time on this roller coaster. I can completely relate to what you are experiencing. Guess you'd never know if you didn't try.

Hello everyone:
I have been seeing an RE since Aug 2009 and I have been trying since September 2008 on and off. I had a miscarriage Aug 2008.
I have had 3 failed IUI with bravelle, 2 cycles of femara (wrong sp) and 2 cycles of clomid - the clomid was given to me early 2009 by my gyno, no pregnancy. She referred me to the fertility specialist.

They cant seem to find anything wrong; they say it is unexplained fertility

Me 1975/34: Hypothryoid but taking meds since high school
borderline FSH but my AMH was 18 and he said it is normal and making lots of mature eggs
Husband 1973/36: nothing.

I am taking a break this december, the injections made me feel loopy, and I gained weight which made me miserable as well. We also just moved!!

The doctor says that the next step is IVF but we need to save up for that, so I was secretly hoping that I could get pregnant on my own during our "break".
But for some reason, my BBT are not elevating it is remaining at the pre-ovuation temps, no ovulation symtoms. Can all these fertility treatments/hormones affect your next non-medicated cycle?
I dont know what to do, should I go back and do the IVF and take a loan?

Thanks

I know this is an older thread but I couldn't help but to respond as my husband and I are on this very path. We've been ttc for 2 years naturally with no success and after having been told by 2 different doctors that we'll need IVF with ICSI we decided that enough was enough for now. Both doctors refused to prescribe Clomid or other treatment options in an effort to induce sperm production so we're at a standstill. Since we cannot afford IVF with ICSI at this time we've decided to put everything on the back burner for now and instead focus our energies on getting healthier. We'll be beginning Weight Watchers this week and although I am already on an exercise regimen, my husband plans to become active with me as well.
It's not easy that's for sure, but sometimes taking a break is good for the mind and the soul. We'll still need to grin and bear it while our family and friends reproduce, but at least we can rejoice in the fact that we're doing what we can in order to have a family of our own someday.

Stress of infertility is horrible. My thoughts are with you. I have been dealing with infertility for two and half years. I have done three rounds of ivf. One resulted in a blighted ovum, the other two didn't work. It is heartbreaking for certain. I have heard good things happen while you step away for a little while.
