kori, i'm sorry you've been delayed somewhat, but i know lots of ladies who've had the lap done and it didn't seem too terribly bad. hang in there!

i still haven't talked to my gyno's nurse about my spotting. i've been calling every day since monday and leaving my name and number. i was starting to get really ticked off yesterday when i called b/c i feel like they're just putting me off. and, every time i call, they ask if i'm maternity. i was so mad yesterday when i called, i felt like screaming at the lady and going, NO, i'm not maternity...i'm INFERTILITY and i'm kinda crazy and i need some answers dang it! so, i probably sounded stressed and the nurse ended up calling me back on my way home from work while i was in an area w/o cell phone reception. i guess i'll try to get up w/ her again today. grrrrrr.

hi to everyone else...i'm so ready for tomorrow! 5-day weekend for me. woo hoo!

Update: my gyno's nurse said (as i suspected) that we shouldn't worry about the spotting unless it happened again. don't you love it when they give you no reason for stuff? aarggh!

I think everyone needs a big hug

My DH and I just got back from his check up appt from his surgery. We gave our dr a xmas present to tell him how thankful we were that he found sperm. He said everything looks good with hubby and that the pathology report came back saying that he had Sertoli-only cell pattern, which he said basically meant that 80% of his sperm cells were sertoli-only cell pattern and 20% were fine and that was where he found sperm. This can't be found with genetic testing or anything..just mTESE. There is no rhyme or reason for this happening either. My DH has a varicocele also, but he said that may have nothing to do with it. I guess the 80% of those cells just aren't ever forming into sperm cells. So, at least we have an answer..sort of.

For all of you pondering the TESE, I highly recommend going that route before anything else. I know Lauren you did the needle biopsy, but I really believe they have a much higher chance of finding sperm through mTESE. I know JenD's DH had that done too...I believe. Lauren, if you have a dr. that is trying to do everything else before TESE, I would recommend going to another dr. That is my opinion. That goes to anyone really. I truely believe the dr's just say that they have a low % of finding sperm, bc "they have to" That is basically what my DH's dr. told him. My hubby said to him, " I don't appreciate your 40% chance" (this was after we found out that there was sperm) and DH was still a little out of it, but he remembers his dr. saying that he "has to say that." So, anyway, that is my take on it.

Crob, good job at calming the poor guy down - he sounds like he got a bit stressed out!! I'm shocked also that someone actually cares out there anymore - everyone in this corrupt world seems like they only care about themselves anymore!!

Karen, Have a great time in FL!!! That will be awesome for you and DH to get away and spend some QT together! Did he have TESE done or mTESE?? I can't remember. I know that mTESE is more advanced. I think they use a microscope??

kbarely, definietly get all checked out and ready to go with IVF. The best way is to have all your tests out of the way so you are ready to go when DH has TESE.

Lauren, my DH had TESE the day before and I was ready for ER the following day. If you are using DS as a backup, that should be ready in case there is no sperm found and since you will be all ready for ER.

i was doing some reading on the mapping procedure vs going straight to TESE etc etc and it looked like the studies were showing that if you did mapping and they could tell where the sperm were in the first place, then TESE went a lot smoother. that's not to say that you have to have it first. also, did any of ya'lls dr's use a special ultrasound to determine the areas of best perfusion before going in for the TESE? it looks like that gave really good results b/c more sperm were found in areas that were more perfused. just some thoughts.

Crob- That is why our md recomended starting with mapping. He said it was much less invasive, and if positive would allow them to go right into where the sperm was inside of digging everywhere. He also knew we aren't comfortable using ds so was hesitant to jump to tese first. Haven't heard of the ultrasound technique but WILL ask...

But he is definitely saying next step is tese.

So if we don't have donor sperm, think the best option is to freeze if found? I just worry they little guys won't make it!

Hello everyone. Well my surgery went well. They were able to remove several polyps and I am free and clear.

On a sadder not by husband had his aspiration and Tese today and they found nothing. He his home and resting but we are feeling a bit beat up at the moment. They are sending an additional biopsy out to the lab for further analysis but our dr is not hopeful.

I hope all is well with the rest of the group. I am off to grab some sleep before my husband wakes up.

nyr- I am so sorry the aspiration and TESE yielded no results. I hope they find some in the samples they sent to the lab. Glad your surgery went ok and hope you are both recovering well.

Lauren- i cant believe it was inconclusive! I wish you luck with the TESE. As far as frozen vs fresh I thought I had heard it wasnt that much greater of a chance with fresh so that is why we just decided to freeze. I know though- I am praying our fragile little guys will make it fine!!

Kbarley- I am sorry you have to go through a lap but it does sound like this RE is better at catching problems than your last? So it sounds like you are in good hands!! and a cruise!! I am so jealous!!!

Lynn- your boys are adorable!!! you are such a proud momma too in the pic!!!!!

jenD- I don't know if I will be on bcps or not- everything will depend on what they test on day 2 or 3 of this period ( if it EVER comes) I think these hormones really shocked my system or something.

crob- I hear your frustration on the nurse not really giving you an answer. Just "don't worry about it unless it happens again..." doesnt really cut it for us does it?

Hi everyone else!!!! 3 days till Christmas!!

Well girls, we went for our 1st u/s today and my RE starting doing the u/s, saw 1 little sac. I was relieved, bc all of a sudden the past few days, I suddenly thought I was not pg. Who knows why! But she moved the u/s probe around more after she found the first one and guess what??? She found another!!!! So, far they are both good size and 1 had a definite yolk inside and the other had a faint one, so it may just need to catch up, but it looks like TWINS for us... I think I'm still in total shock!!! We are telling family it is only 1 for now then on Xmas we are going to do something to have everyone find out that there are 2 little munchkins in there!! Should be fun!

Back to wrapping gifts. I will try to write later or tomorrow. This weekend and with the holidays, things are going to get nuts!! Happy Holidays to everyone if I don't get to post again and have a GREAT new year - here is to 2008!!!
