Thanks so much for the info on the vino Jen D. My hubby and I are planning a date tonight. May is coming quick, I would be excited to be going to the best of the best too. Has your DH been through the proceedure before or was it different? Sorry if that is too personal. I feel like you are such a good source of info for me. Hope you don't feel used. I'll be looking forward to reading about all the steps on your next cycle.

Lynn-
Ask me all the questions you want. It is comforting to have people to talk to. My DH had TESE done by his urologist (who had previously done a biopsy, showing few sperm) he took eight tissue samples and out of the eight 500K immotile sperm were found. We did have fertilization but no pregnancy.

This time we will have mTESE done where Dr. Schlegel from Cornell will operates with a microscope to have optimal results. This time we will also do my egg retrieval the day of or day after DH's procedure.

Enjoy your vino and date with DH. Keep me posted on your cycle. Praying for you.

Thumbs up

I think DH's proceedure is going to be what you're talking about. I know they said during the surgery the urologist will be passing off samples to the embryologist who is in the room with a microscope. They are planning to do my ER a day or 2 after his so they said have a backup driver for me in case he's not up to driving. Do they communicate all the meds and results that you used on your last cycle to Cornell? I would think that makes your next cycle a little more predictable. I know you said you were slow to respond but I feel like I"m reading that very often. Maybe REs are getting a little conservative. We ahd a great movie night. Lynn

Glad you had a good night. We went out to dinner and had a nice time.

I have my records and DH's records all ready for our appointment's. I was disappointed that out of 16 of my eggs only 6 were mature. Hopefully Cornell will use my history to figure a better dosage of stims.

Sounds like your DH is having mTESE which is the way to go. I am very excited for you and your DH. Keep posting on your progress.

Thanks again Jen. Has your DH shown any interest in talking to other guys about his situation? Mine is starting to say why isn't there a place I can e-mail? I think the information shared would be much different but maybe it would be helpful.

I've been keeping up with your dialogue and just wanted to add that I think it would be great for our husbands to talk. I know mine has said a couple times he'd like me to tell "that guy" to call him for advice and would be totally up to sharing his experience with another man, since he had to go through the same procedure. He gets really down sometimes (today's one of those days) when it seems like all the men around us are holding their little daughters and it seems like we just don't fit in anywhere. Let me know what you think!

I would love for my DH to get to know other guys with the same diagnosis. I am going to talk to him about it but he has a hard enough time talking to me about it. I always keep him in the loop when I meet someone new that shares the same diagnosis because I know he feels so alone. He has only told two of his friends. I will definitely bring it up to him.

Hey all.

You know I too had wanted my LH to meet men with the same dx as him, that is why I had asked Brandy to do an all male forum, but he hasn't gone yet. I think just like many men, pride is a bugger.

Tripp - praying hard for BFP!!! I am sorry none got to freeze.

Hey Jen, LineaLi & Foxxy!!!!

Right now I'm glued to the TV, you all know I'm in VA thank God I don't know anyone at VT but it still effects me greatly, I work at a university in Northern VA. Keep your prayers to all these kids and families.

I think for guys the idea of typing out their feelings is hard if they know it will be viewed by many. If there are any LHs who would be willing to communicate threw private messages, they can send a note to my hubby at my name and just have the title be "for him". I promise I won't open it.

I am going to talk to DH about it this week sometime. I actually "schedule" time with him to talk about our IF so it doesn't consume our regular lives. I think it would be so helpful for them to have someone to talk to who can truly relate.

Oh Syreeta my prayer's are going out to all the victims and families at VT. It is hard to understand why we have such evil in our world.

Okay so I too will talk to my LH. We have to get them to realize that they are not alone.

5/19 is coming up and I'm so excited.

I saw that there is a male forum, but NOONE has gone there! I'll point that out to husband, but will also have him email yours, lineali. Kuddleygal- I must have missed something. What happens on the 19th? It is my 30th birthday, so it will be a good day, but do you get to go in for your next exciting, let's-get-things-moving appointment? That's great! It will be here before you know it!

hi eveyone. At our IVF orientation yesterday the embryologist said that IVF success is actually higher when it's a male factor because the sperm meeting the egg is often the only problem and they are taking care of that. I know there are many factors for all of us but I figure hearing good news is OK. That orientation had me feeling so optimistic.

Tripp - well 4/19 was my next consultation with the RE after a 3 month wait to get my blood sugar in check, but it has been changed to 5/2. I just noticed that I put the wrong date it was 4/19 not 5/19, what a goober head I am. Hee Hee

LineaLI - I like what your embryologist said, I pray he/she is right.

Jen- Hey girlie girl

Foxxy - How are things going?
