Alld. Check your pm's. You'll be near me if you want to go get a drink together..... or two.

About me:
I got my surgery date today. Sep. 16. I hope it goes ok.... I'm really afraid they find something else, or it is so bad I'll lose an ovary, or worse, both.
Keep me in your prayers....

Singingirl - Keeping you in my prayers for sure!! I'm praying they'll remove the endo and all else will be fine.

AllD - Bummer about having to go on temp. duty anyhow and missing your anniversary and your little boy coming home. I hope the 3 weeks flies by!! Just think when you come back you'll be that much closer to November!!

Barbara - I don't think it's a bad sign that your cycle got moved to November. And I think it's a great sign that your DH has "baby" on the to-do list for the year!! How sweet!

Raquel - I do my best crying in the shower...I think it just seems like a safe place. Sorry you had a breakdown...things will get better, I promise

Hi Everyone,
My DH's biopsy results came back today: no sperm- sertoli cell only. The urologist says there is a 20-40% chance that sperm could be found. He didn't give my DH much more info over the phone. The urologist we have been seeing is not a reproductive specialist, so I"m not sure if that 20-40 number is even accurate. We have an apt. for my DH with a fertility specialist on Sept.23rd.(which seems so far away!!!!) I have my first apt. with the Uconn Medical Center on Sept. 17th. W
I'm feeling so discouraged and I'm making myself sick with worry!! I'm terrified that when I got to my apt. at the fertility specialist there is going to be something wrong with me!! I've been having 1 to 3 days of spotting before my period since I've been off of BCP. I have asked my OBGYN and he brushed it off. He said it was normal...I have been ovulating every month around day 14 or 15th. And my cycle (not counting the spotting is 28 days). Should I be concerned about this or am I making myself sick over nothing?? Please share if you know anything about this.
Thank you so much for the support!! My DH and I are not talking about this with anyone as of yet....just eachother....so it's been great to have all of you!!! Thank you
I wish you all the best with your personal journeys!!! God...this is so hard!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care,
Sam

Hi Sam,

My husband was diagnosed with azoo/Sertoli Cell Only as well.

We did the fine needle aspiration mapping procedure to see if there were any sperm. Unfortunately the Dr. was not able to find any, even after giving us a 60% chance of finding sperm.

I don't mean this to be discouraging, as there are several women on the board who's DH's have SCO and have gone on to find sperm.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

We are moving forward with donor sperm and IUI.

Good luck on your journey!!

Hi Sam, I am sorry to hear about the diagnosis. I know how hard it is to hear. I have a very similar story as yours and it is very sad.

My husband's was also diagnosed with sertoli only and we are seeking Dr. S' advice and probably doing Micro TESE, hopefully in December. My husband is now on clomid to help increase testosterone. What we are hoping for with Micro TESE is that its not complete testicular failure. That there are some areas that do make sperm. There is still hope, and that is something you should not give up on.

Nelly1: What was your husband Testosterone and FSH levels?

joann, his testosterone was low end of the normal spectrum (can't remember the exact #). Our Dr. said that he could take testosterone, but it wouldn't help help with the production of sperm.

His FSH was 9.

Hi Ladies,

Nelly- our DH's results are exactly the same he has SCO testostorone low level of normal and FSH of 9. We did MTESE back in Jan 09 and unfortunetly no sperm was found

we will be doing mtese one more time in nov09 together with IVF and using BIL as back up

DH wants to try one more time to make sure he did all he can.

WE are finished with all the tests etc from BIL and now waiting for everything to be released in nov 09
im still trying to stay positive that the mtese will be successful and we wont need to use BIL as back up
i pray everynight

Samberine- im sorry about the diagnosis SCO is one of the hardest but not impossible
stay strong and postive and i hope all works out for you.

good luck everyone else

kat

Hi Nelly and Kat..

My DH testoterone is on the low side.. 250..Dr. S gave him clomid. You might want to ask about that. His FSH is at 17.

We are also doing accupuncture. The accupuncturies told me he has helped people with this issue before. He is also taking herbs that he gave them.

Hi joann, we have another phone appt with Dr. Turek next week, but I was wondering if you know how long your DH is supposed to take clomid for? Indefinitely?

If his numbers improve is it something that he would continue to take?

Hi all, not too much time for personals, I have appointments starting in a few minutes.

Raquel: I broke down in the dog park the other night, just started bawling my eyes out! And I am NOT a crier either, I loathe it so this was very out of character.

Singing: Best of luck for the next few weeks until your surgery, I hope things are going better with your DH

AFM, I emailed Dr. S in Cornell today, I will likely see Dr. Turek here in SF but I thought I would hear what he has to say if he writes me back. I am sure he is busy enough! I asked about the stupid Androgel and how this will impact our chances and how long DH will have to be off of it before we can get things started. My question is: how does testosterone supplementation impact men with 0 sperm in the first place compared to those with actual sperm in the ejaculate? I can't find the answer to this in any of my google searches. I assume it is still a really bad thing.

I don't know about you guys, but I am ready for the weekend. This week has been at least 8 days long already.

The SCO dx definitely sucks!!! What exactly is it?? Is it something my DH was born with or has it developed suddenly?? What causes it? We are so sad....again. This is such an emotional rollercoaster ride. I'm hoping we can go through the mTese/IVF process in late December and have DS on backup.....I feel like in my mind, I always need a plan....even if it's something I create... I have my apt. on 9/17 at the fertility clinic. How long does it take to get IVF underway? Would it be possible for me to have IVF in December? I feel like we have such limited information.....I hate that!!
Can someone tell me more about accupucture?? Should my DH and I be looking into it?
Thanks Everyone

Samberine- yes SCO def sucks. we asked our doc and in our case its congenital (DH was born like that) the worst thing is they dont know why how they have no answers they only thing they said something went wrong at the moment of conception. knows i that SCO either congential or a mixture of lifestyle/congenital. what i mean by life style studies have shown men who are exposed to chemicals and toxins can cause SCO
in my DH's case its all congenital we tried MTESE in jan and no sperm was found so in our case in was definetly tescular failure as some men who have SCO do find pocket of sperm during MTESE. our doc looked for approx 2 to 3 hours the report stated my DH only had sertoli cells where your suppose to have other cells there to to make sperm also.

let me know if you have any questions

good luck

I had a phone consult and the charge varies from 350$ to 550$.
For me he charged 350$. You can take an appt by calling Dr S's office and the assistant will help you setting up the telephonic appt.

SFBaygirl : I am 100% sure, Dr S is too busy to respond to his email. I also tried the same route but never received any response.

TO EVERYONE
My suggestion to everyone whoever is planning to take appt with Dr S. please do the ground work
(Blood Test - FSH, Testesterone, LH,TSH etc, Siemen Analysis. Ultrasound of Testicles).
Fax the reports 5-6 days before the appointment so that Dr S is ready to ask you question rather than you asking questions.
This is my experience.
