Hello ladies

Erin: So far I am doing pretty well stress wise. I think I will get more nervous as the next few weeks pass. I think that DH is apprehensive about the results and what they will show. I can certainly see why. How are you doing?

Sarah: I am not 100% sure what exact tests they are running. They called it a chromosonal analysis. I believe they are testing for the Kleinfelters (XXY chromosone pattern) that you mentioned as well as for microdeletions of the Y chromosone. I am not sure if they are including the test of Cystic Fibrosis carrier or not.

Mille: Thanks for the well wishes. How are you feeling? I bet you are looking forward to this Christmas celebrating the upcoming LO. I can imagine how stoked I would be and hopefully will be sometime next year.

Hi to Atiz, Armywife, Kris, AmyinOH, Lost, 3rdtimes, Schatzi, Singing, AngieFL, Katie, Ewebey, Melc and anyone I forgot to name.

SFBaygirl: We are doing the same thing. We are specifically looking at the Micro Y deletion test. I think we have one more week and we should finally find out. We opted not to do the CF since no one in his family has ever had the disease and this is usually genetic.

Good luck on your wait. It sounds like we are going through the same thing with our DH's since both have high FSH and low T levels. Good luck!!!!!!!

just an up date I posted earler today on the OCT IVF board

OMG OMG OMG ….went to the local CVS picked up 2 different brands of test. First Response old school kind with the 2 lines and EPT digital kind. Thought I would wait and use morning pee but the test got the better of me. Knowing that if I got a I would test again in the AM I desided to give it a go. And here are the results…The First Response positive line is just as dark as the control line, and the EPT digital showed pregnant about 45 seconds into the test. So I guess that’s a for me unless it is trigger hanging on…could it be trigger? ing that it is not!…and you know how I asked for morning sickness yesterday…well I am so nauseated I can hardly think of food or anything else, however it did not start until I was driving the kids to school, got home to fix my daily 1 cup of Joe and the thought of drinking it made my tum-tum turn so here it sits in front of me. Don’t even like the way it smells.

Will touch base with personals after I have some crackers or something.
Love to all and Please keep me in your prayers as each of you are in mine.
God bless
Joy

Joy-bugg: Wow that is amazing!!! You are . I am so happy for you. Make sure you now go to the azoo veterans board and the due dates board for more posting fun. When is your beta test?

Angie: Our DHs do sound very similar my DH had an even higher FSH at almost 40 but Dr. Turek honestly didn't seem that concerned about it. How long did they say it would take for you to get the results? Is your DH nervous too? What, if anything, is your DH on for the low T levels (sorry if you already mentioned it or it is in your siggy). I know that my DH feels pretty lousy when his T levels drop but so far he is doing well on the Clomid. We will know if it raises his T levels in another week or so. If not, on to hCG injections.

Have a nice evening all. Congratulations again Joy!!!!

Lostandconfused, what a surprise for your sister! 7 embryos!!!! That's wonderful!!! Wish her the best of luck!

Joybugg73, congrats for your positive test - what a gorgeous feeling it must be - even feeling sick I wish I were feeling sick very very sick

Mille.foglie, thanx for the encouragement!

Guess what: today I had the follicle check and their number has risen to 9 !!!!! I do hope there is an egg in each of them - in this case we would have a bigger chance of fertilization. The ER is on Friday, now sure, but I won't have internet access on the weekend so I will let you know my results at the beginning of next week. Please, all of you and for us!

Hi ladies! Just checking in on you all! I'm at home with a low-grade fever today (started yesterday afternoon). My kids at school have been sick for the last 2 weeks, I guess it finally caught up with me. Hoping it's nothing serious, I have an OB appt today anyway, so that's good.

Atiz and Lost- Good luck with your egg retrievals!!! Can't wait to hear the good news!

Joy- Congrats!!!!! When is your beta?

SFBay and Angie- I pray that the time passes quickly for you as you wait for those test results!

Mille- That's amazing that your husband did a full marathon! I've definitely never been a runner, but I have great respect for those who can!!

Erin- I'm glad you've found something to keep your mind occupied! Send me the link!

I know I've missed a lot of you, but I'm always thinking of you no matter where you are in this journey!

joybugg - Congrats!!! You are Keep us posted on how your beta test turns out!

Lost - Great news for your sister!! Good luck on your ER on Saturday and I'm praying they find more sperm to use...did you freeze what was found before?

Atiz - 9 follies is great!! Good luck with your ER!!

SFBayGirl/Angie - Good luck with those genetic test results...I know the wait stinks. I'm praying you get good results in the end. SFBayGirl...the test they are running sounds like a karyotype. They'll look for any chromosomal abnormalities, including Klinefelters (47,XXY) or Mosaicism (45,X, 46, XY), which is what Raquel and AllD's DH's have. They also noticed with my DH that he had some sort of translocation on one of his chromosomes. It's not something that affect fertility, but it was kind of interesting to find out. I think we had a separate test for micro Y deletions. He was not tested for CF because UR could feel that he had vas deferens and did not feel the test was necessary for that reason.

Erin - I'm so glad you have found something to throw yourself into with your crafting. It's great to have a distraction. Your appointment with Dr S. is just around the corner

Diana - I hope you don't have anything serious. Feel better soon!!

I have a small vent about a friend...who in fairness to her doesn't know we used donor sperm, but I just can't get her words out of my mind. I was telling her that I was having some trouble sleeping and I was sure that DH was about ready to kick me out of bed with all of my tossing and turning. She kind of missed the point and told me I should just kick him out and then she added this gem that she says she used to say to her ex-H when she was pregnant, "My egg was supposed to be there, your sperm wasn't, so YOU can find somewhere else to sleep!" Ouch! Kind of a dumb comment but, like I said, I wasn't even saying he was the problem...just worried I was keeping him awake. It just really struck a nerve and hurt my feelings, which is ridiculous because she has no idea what she said was even hurtful to me. I am so grateful to be pregnant, but I hate when comments like that come up to remind me that we didn't just get to make our baby the way the fertile majority does

Kris~They did freeze some but according to the test thaw it does not survive freeze...so basically we pay rent to store sperm that will do nothing! But just in case one would live i feel the need to keep it there...make sense?

Kris, I couldnt have said it better myself when you said "It just really struck a nerve and hurt my feelings, which is ridiculous because she has no idea what she said was even hurtful to me."

You don't know how many times I have felt that way! From little comments and remarks from strangers and even friends--I get so hurt, and angry--but in their defense, they have NO idea what I'm going through. We have to cut them some slack I guess, but it's so hard. To me, they come off as rude and ignorant, but to themselves--they are just saying what they think.

The one thing I appreciate about this whole process is that it's made me a much more sensitive person who will THINK before I say things. You never know what you say that may offend someone. Everyone is fighting their own battles, whether we know it or not.

It's funny (in a way) because I think I always knew DH and I would be going through this. I've always been sensitive to pregnancy issues, even LONG before we decided to start trying. Someone would make a remark and I'd think to myself, "dont they know some people cant have children??" Little did I know....we'd be 2 of those "people".....

So Far:
11/08: Began TTC
6/5/09: 1st SA: Zero Sperm
6/22/09: 2nd SA--Zero Sperm again....
7/8/09: Bloodwork labs
7/29/09: Normal scrotal & prostate U/S. Normal physical exam.
8/1/09: FSH 12.3, LH 22.8, Prolactin 17.2, Testerone 952....all seem high.
September 09: Small pituitary tumor found in MRI, this is not a contributing factor and not something they are concerned about.
September 09: 2nd round of blood labs are drastically different and estradiol shows as elevated (not tested before)
10/6/09: Karyotype normal, but y-chromosome microdeletion is positive. "both markers for AZFc are deleted" (local urologist made it seem like we had zero chance after this diagnosis)

Upcoming:
11/17: In-person consultation with Dr. Schlegel in NYC! (Initial reaction from him via email is that we have a 70% chance of successful mTESE!)

Repeat from IVF posting:

So i am getting very aggitated....this morning at my u/s they said everything was looking good and he would call me with my E2 and see me in the morning...then when they called me with the E2 it was 1198 but they said they do not want to see me until Friday...RE had told me the ER would be Sat at the latest but now that will make it Sunday....i am soo sick of the unknown, the nurse said that it looks like only one of my follies is mature(i have 12+follies), how is that?!?! I guess i am confused over what could have changed, they have kept me on 20 units microdose lupron 2x a day but have CUT my Follistim to 225 one time a day instead of 2x, why? I get very upset when they tell me one thing and then call me back and do something else...if DH wasnt so comfortable with his DR's and we werent on a short timeline with the cancer i would think about changing RE's...

lost - I would pay to store it just in case too. I'm hoping there are some fresh ones in there too though I'm sorry you are so frustrated with your doctors. I'm hoping everything turns out okay for this cycle.

Erin - I agree that this whole experience does make you more sensitive to not only other's IF struggles, but to any other struggle...and that is a blessing. I just wish when someone says something that hurts me that I could tell those people why the comments hurt me without telling them something I'd rather not share with the world.

lost: It sounds like they are letting you “coast” a little to have your follies reach the right size. What were the sizes of your follies when you went for your check this morning? The ideal size for trigger is between 18 and 22. I know my clinic normally likes to have at least one of mine hit 20 before they trigger me. On average, you can expect your E2 to be 200 for each mature follicle, so perhaps they were expecting your E2 to be a bit higher today…I don’t know, because from your signature you almost doubled and that is to be expected. Or perhaps they thought you were getting closer to ovulation, but your blood work showed you still have some time to go and they want you to have as many mature follicles as you can. They just like to make sure that your E2 doesn’t go over 3000 before the trigger. I know this is hard…especially since you have to coordinate mTESE and ER…plus you have the added stress of a cancer diagnosis…please try not to stress as that isn’t good for you; I hate with this process that there is so little that we can control. Remember, you can always call back to the doctor’s office and tell them that you want an explanation…it is your care and you deserve to understand what is going on.

joybugg - huge congrats!!! "congrats" on your morning sickness too!! when is your beta? you must be so thrilled!!!!!!

lost - I'm sure you're frustrated - it seems like the timetable for IVF can be so unpredictable - especially bc it is hard for them to predict your response as you get closer to triggering when your follies are getting bigger and you have taken more and more of the stims. It is such a delicate balance for the docs to try to get you the max number of mature follicles while simultaneously making sure you do not overstim. My stims were also cut throughout my IVF cycle - I started with 150 Gonal F and 150 Menopur and by the end I was at no Gonal F and only 25 Menopur - the docs explained that as your follies grow, they develop receptors and need less and less of the stims to respond to.

Oh, and we paid to freeze a sample with only 2 sperm in it !! We figured we needed to hold onto every single swimmer we had. We joked that for what we were paying per sperm we could have gotten them a studio apartment!

Kris - sorry about the insensitive comments. I have concluded that most people don't mean any harm when they say stupid insensitive things, they just don't think before they speak. Sometimes I catch myself complaining about little things about my dad to DH, then I stop and remember he lost his father a long time ago and would do anything to have him back, even if his dad annoyed him - I think if I can be that thoughtless sometimes with my own husband, I can't expect others to be sensitive to all my issues.

Heck, even now when I am unemployed some of my friends complain about their jobs to me - and I want to say, I wish I still had a job to complain about! But I do agree that overall I have become more sensitive to others' struggles since experiencing IF, and more aware that others may be going through hardships and I may not know the whole story. That has been one of the biggest silver linings of this experience. As much as it sucks, all of us on this board have probably become better people in a lot of ways after going through this.

Lost: I am so sorry for the confusion. I wish I had some advice but this IVF process is still a major mystery to me. Best of luck in the next several days.

Atiz: Best wishes to you too for a good fert report and ER.

Diana: Good to see you!! I am so sorry you are sick, has your school been affected by H1N1? How are the twins doing? Do you have major ms or other preggo symptoms??

Kris: Wow, just ouch is all I have to say about that. I know that she probably has no idea that her words hurt but still, I would feel bad too. I completely understand about your feelings toward not getting pg the "normal" way. I am to the point that I find it hard to believe that pg and sex are even related .

Mille: Dr. Turek is hoping to find and freeze any swimmers if we have a successful centrifuged sample as well. This may depend on the genetic tests we are waiting for.

Erin: I also try to be supersensitive when I find out someone is pregnant or just had a baby. I don't even talk about it unless they bring it up first. They could be the size of octomom before birth and I still wouldn't say anything. You just never know. I do feel that this process brings an increased sense of empathy to those of us that go through it. Look at the bond we feel on this board or the due dates boards for example even though we all have never actually met. We are united through the pain we have experienced and that I think has value all its own. Sorry for philosophizing there a bit *wipes a tear away*.

3rdtimes: Boy, this whole IVF thing sounds so complicated.

Happy Wednesday to everyone else. One day closer to Friday.
