Low motility

My husband has low motility of 45% (normal being 50%)

I have him on Vit C at the mo' as well as E and Zinc. Do you think we are silly to not get help and try ourselves?

I'll be 39 soon and was wondering...

I would say based on your age it might be best to seek professional advice from a fertility specialist. I've heard once you hit 40 your chances of getting pregnant drop significantly.

I've already seen a RE, last year in fact and these are the results he gave us.

We have since moved and are waiting for our health insurance to kick in before seeing someone here (although we will have to travel out of Territory for any fert. treatments)

Thanks for your reply!

Did the RE give you any suggestions? My husband has a normal, but low on the normal scale motility and varoceles the Dr said he would do surgery and remove the varoceles and that should help improve motility.

If your new insurance will cover it, you may want to wait. These things can get quite costly.

He suggested Clomid for me and IUI.

I am very hesitant to take Clomid knowing what it can do to the uterine lining and cervical mucus. We decidied not to do it and have since moved and may do an unmedicated IUI next year if we are still waiting to be blessed.

I just finished a round of clomid, and I started on estrogen and will eventually use progestrone cream. My dr mentioned that clomid could do that, but from my understanding (and I could be wrong on this) she gave me the estrogen and progesterone cream to keep that from happening.

We haven't gotten o the point of IUI yet so I don't know much about that.

Thanks for your help and advice about the estrogen and progesterone.

I appreciate your input!

I've been reading about soy for the natural alternative to Clomid so more research and working with an herbalist and seeing if I should go this route.

Let me know what you find out. I'm not a big fan of taking all these meds to get preggo but since I don't ovulate I didn't really have a choice, or at least I didn't know of any other options.

Oh I understand that you must take the Clomid, I hope I didn't offend you. I know for myself being older I don't want to be on it unmonitored. He wrote me a script for 150mgs!

The soy is good for those who do not o even so I found out somewhere else. However I know if one has a thyroid problem soy is not good for you.

When you take the progestron, did u all get pigmentation on your face. I had once, and suddenly all the pigmentation came out as if like I am pregnant. But, unfortunately I'm not..

Hello...

Read my bio. They had us labeled unexplained until they started to look at hubby's motility and noticed huge drops, then it would look normal. Then the day we decided to try IVF they came in and said after 2nd glance it was still poor although initially it looked ok. They placed the sperm in my egg and we got pregnant although loosing it to an early MC. Our ages are the same so I think you should be pro-active and do IVF which gives you the best chances to conceive. Good luck!
