Help - Just been told I need IVF

Hey,

I'm new to this site and just trying to find out a bit more about what's going on with me right now.

My husband and I have just been told we need to have ivf for us to be able to have a baby.

I was only being seen as I've been having trouble getting my cycles back after the dredded depo injection. But they've since tested hubby and his sperm count and mobility were way below average so wont help me because of his problems.

They've said i need to be referred to stand a chance.

Any advice is greatfully recieved!

Anna

Anna-

to the forum. There are so many awesome ladies on here with lots of information and great support.

Do you know what your husbands numbers were?? My DH has a very low sperm count ranging anywhere from .2-8 million per ml. His count is too low to do iui so it was recommended that we go straight to ivf as well.

It was a scary thought at first but now that we are in the middle of it I can honestly say it is no where near as bad or as devasting as I felt when we first found out about the problem.

Try and keep a positive attitude and ask lots of questions....You will make it and we are here for you!!

I'd have to agree...i was completely devastated to find out that hubby had such low numbers...ecspecially since he has a child from a previous relationship...i dont think i've ever been so confused in all my life. Now that we are in the process of ivf, i wont lie and say that it's a piece of cake to deal with but it definitely isnt as bad as i thought it would be. stay positive...luckily you have this forum which i always find to be pretty helpful. First thing you need to do is get a referral to an RE...they will take it from there. where are you located?

My DH also had low sperm count....about 2 million per ml...our RE told us IUI was not an option and we went straight to IVF...

I know this is a sad and overwhelming time...but there is a bright side...you know the problem and now you can move forward and do everything you can to get pregnant...

We did our IVF in May and are pregnant with twins on our first shot...and while I won't lie and say IVF is easy...it is the most rewarding thing we have ever done...you can handle more than you think!! And once you get pregnant you will see that it is worth every injection, test and penny!!!

Find an RE that you love and are comfortable with...try and stay relaxed and just focus on the baby that one day will be...I know that sounds hard but try sweetie!!

Keep the faith that you will be a Mommy!!

This forum is fill of women who have been through this and you will find so much support here!!

Best of luck!!!!

Us too.

aflight84, I completely understand what your going through. We were told about a month ago that we probably needed to do IVF too. We've done several IUI's and all BFN. Another problem we've been having is recurrent cysts that just won't go away. So, I'm having my second surgery this Thursday and hopefully we'll get started in October. It is extremely stressful the thought of doing IVF. This forum has been great. So many women on here have gone through IVF and the success stories keep me motivated and hopeful. Good luck to you and let us know when you get started.

Hi there

We found out in March of this year that we are dealing with severe MF. I'd love to say that its gotten easier over the months on accepting it, but for us it just feels like we've just found out everyday all over again (if that makes sense).

We've also been told IVF with ICSI is our only route. Because I'm just soooo terrified of doing IVF I've been searching all over for different tests, procedures, whatever, to find more answers....needless to say I think I've only made the situation worse by knowing 'too much' information.

I think the biggest thing we feel (mostly DH I think) is that we've been cheated.....emotionally its just so hard dealing with.

We are going Sept17 to sign the consent forms for IVF and take that big step but I'm terrified!!!! Not about the procedure, but about the outcome. If it doesn't work I think at some level it will kill my DH. He's said he is open for DS but obviously I don't think he really wants to.

Anyways I hope you find this site as useful as we have and find that 'inner peace' to do what you feel is right.

How did the IVF go???

I know you posted this a while ago. Just wondering if you had any success. I just found out today that we will need to IVF for MF issues. DH has very low sperm count... who would have ever known??? I am in shock. I really can't believe it! We are trying to check out other options but seems like there aren't any other really good ones if we want to have a baby this decade! Hope you got a !!!
