0% morphology

went from 1% just a week and a half ago to 0% today. All other numbers are perfect! (except white blood cell numbers a bit high) Scared that this will make it impossible. Anyone have this experience?

Yup. I had an IUI scheduled last Thursday and they hadn't gotten the full Semen Analysis back on my husband yet.

1 minute before my IUI, they pulled me in and told me that while he has high numbers and motility is average, that he completely failed the acrosome reaction test.

It was 0%.

We have a meeting with our RE today to go over next steps, but it will basically mean that we have to move straight to IVF with ICSI.

We plan on waiting a few months until we go to Mexico before we do all the prep. In the meantime I am doing a ton of research to see if there are any nutritional elements or Eastern Medicine remedies to assist the quality of sperm.

It totally sucks.

yeah, they want to go ahead with the IUI and my nurse says they've had many couples that got past it with IUI but the way she said it sounded like she was just saying it so i didnt get upset... or maybe it's in my head. she says if the IUI doesnt work the doctor will want to have a talk with us... assuming that means we'll have to go to IVF which we cant afford.

It is so disappointing and frustrating.

My RE also said that there have been 'miracle babies' from 0% but it is so hard to put any faith in that.

I am looking into acupuncture for both of us right now along with some nutrition. It can't hurt to try.

Unhappy hello

Hi, I am new and I have never written on a message board before, so sorry if I make any mistakes. I came across this chat board because we found out that my husband failed his acrosome reaction test and they also cancelled our IUI because of it. Needless to say I was devastated. I feel alone because I don't want to talk to him about it. I don't want him to feel bad. I tried to do research on the internet about what can be done to fix this. With my OCD I found another message board where someone suggested Tribulus Terrestris. I am not sure if it will help but I read a study where it did help some men. We have an appointment tomorrow to speak to our RE about the next steps.

Yes, My DH's Morph is from 0-1%. The first was 1% and second 0%. We just got a BFP via IVF this month! Our RE basically told us the only way to get pregnant is through IVF w/ ICSI.

There are also many financing options availble for IVF. Not sure of your age but there is the Shared Risk Program that will refund you 70% of your money if IVF doesn't work.

We are gonna take a bit of a break for a while. DH will probably go to a urologist in the spring if we can't conceive before then. This whole experience with our first IUI has been quite painfull mentally for us so we are gonna just let it be for a bit. Perhaps we'll go back to thinking it will happen when it's meant to happen rather than forcing it.

Oh and our new baby Madison ( ) will be here in a couple weeks so she can help us get our minds on something else for a while.

IF is incredibly stressful on a relationship. Good luck in your journey & congrats on the new fur baby. I'm sure it will keep your mind off of things during your break.

RDW - MF is one of the easier IF problems to overcome with IVF. I agree that you have a very good chance of this working the first time.

Good luck with your IVF!

Thanks!! This is such a scary thing. To know there is a real problem is the first thing and now starting to work on it. IVF is exciting, expensive and scary. When we were "trying" to have a baby and blissfully ignorant as to why it was not working was one thing them when you sit across from a desk and a man is telling you your husband has 0% morphology and there is a "real" problem things change. We are excited to start but, scared because we know this is it. There is no other option besides IVF/ISCI.

My DH also has 0% morphology and we were told the only option was IVF w/ icsi. We were both completely devastated and initially ruled it out b/c of the expense and the physical/emotional demands.

It took us several months to come to the final decision that we were going to just do it since it was our only chance at having a baby of our own. Turns out, it wasn't so bad and well worth it b/c now we are expecting!

I wish you all the best of luck with whatever path you take!

HOLY COW...TRIPLETS!? Congrats Daisy. How are you feeling?

Robyn - It is weird hearing that there is no way to conceive other than with IVF/ICSI. It's so overwhelming and shocking. That was the last thing I was expecting.

Do you have a start date yet?

cgong---- I feel pretty good, thanks for asking. I tire pretty easily, but I'm sure that's nothing compared to what I'm going to experience later on! It was pretty shocking to discover we were having triplets. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared. But,I'm also getting excited. We went from thinking that we may never have any children of our own, to having 3 all at once. This time last year was about when we found out that dh had a morphology issue. It's amazing what a differance a year makes!
