Please help, weird situation, Doc.'s no answers
My husband went in for a semen analysis and it came back NO sperm, HOWEVER.... 1 month before the test he had gotten me pregnant (it ended in an ectopic pregnancy). He had smoked marijuana prior to the test and the doctor said that this could be the reason for no sperm in the ejaculate but that when they do his blood tests for hormones that they should show up low if marijuana is the cause. He got the blood results back and all his hormone levels are normal. They haven't answered our question on how can he have no sperm in analysis but had sperm 1 month before??? Does anyone have any insight on this????
**He was smoking alot more when he got me pregnant, since the semen analysis in sept. he has quit, and they did a second one in Nov. and the same results showed up. ** |

I seriously don't think marijuana has a bad effect on sperm. I know tons of people who smoke and have kids. TONS.
Also- my dh was just diagnosed with azoospermia and he doesn't smoke. |

But how can he have no sperm on 2 analysis and have had sperm to get me pregnant 3 months ago??? Can something suddenly cause azoospermia?

I don't know about the sperm then no sperm thing. I guess that would require a specialist to advise you on.
I would say it is excellent that he had sperm at one point. Maybe one of his tubes got recently blocked? I know a lot of people with all different types of habits and no fertility problems. I am not making any statements of fact- but just in my personal observation, those things have not seemed to affect the fertility of those men. This stuff is pretty tricky to figure out so a good doc seems like the best bet. With an answer like the 1st doc gave you I would say try a different specialist. Good luck |

Hi,
We have had a similar problem, acheived a pregnancy through IVF and now no sperm with no answers. They think it could be down to recurrect bladder infections and are now treating it by long term antibiotics but still no answers. Biopsys can find sperm though, the fact there was sperm is a good sign as he must have ability to produce, so may find it within testes. Hopefully we will get all get to the bottom of it and get our babies!! xx Emma |
