Searching for any hope

Hello Ladies,

I am new to this board. My name is Annie and my DH was diagnosed with NOA, (all my tests were normal). His bloodwork was normal except for a high FSH of 28, he also has undersized testicles. Our UR gave us a 30% chance of finding sperm through TESE. Well, he had his TESE and NO sperm were found. We are both completely devestated.
My question is this, did anyone on this board have a failed TESE and then go on to have a successful MicroTESE? Our clinic currently does not perform MTESE, but we found one in our state that does. I would love to go to Cornell, but there is no way we can afford the IVF part of the procedure out of pocket and our insurance won’t cover out of state procedures. We really can’t even think about donor sperm, we want to exhaust any option of trying to have a biological child.

Thank you for your time.

Hello,

I just came across your post. I would get a 2nd opinion. My Dh was diagnosed with NOA. The first doctor we went to said that Dh had undersized testicles and they did a TESE and they found no sperm whatsoever. We were point blank told that we were a hopeless case. We went for a second opinion and the 2nd doctor said that DH testicles were normal size and that we had at least a 60% chance, we were not a hopeless case. The first doctor did not really try to find sperm since Dh was considered a sever case and most doctors don't want to touch that becuase if you can't get pg. it effects their success rates. We are actually going in March for IVF. We are going out of town. Luckily my parents have given us over half the money since we have to pay out of pocket because my insurance does not cover advanced fertility procedures. I also know that there are places you can get a loan for IVF procedures. I would highly advise you to get a 2nd opinion, if anything for piece of mind. There are people that had their DH's with NOA, and they have babies now. Good Luck.
