Semen Analysis..Help!
Hi! I am new here! I have been reading tons of posts and this seems to be a very helpful place
![]() Here is the short version of our story...We have been TTC for over a year. All my test our fine and we just received my DH's analysis and it doesn't look good..Well from what I can get out of it My OBGYN is not that helpful and all they said was get him to a urologist and work on getting to Walter Reed. (My DH is active duty and Walter Reed does IVF) Well, as you can imagine that has just crushed me! So, now we are waiting on his appointment with the Army to make his appointment with the urologist! UGH!!! Meanwhile, I am going crazy! I am crying all the time and I just need some answers/advice. If anyone could give me there thoughts on his SA results it would be greatly appreciated!!Here are the results: Appearance: Opaque Volume: 2.0 Viscosity: Liquid Morph: 17.1 ABN Forms: None Seen Motility: 16.6 Concentration: 57.3 Thank you so much for you help!!! ![]() |

I'm guessing from your results that they used the WHO criteria for testing? I can't give you any thoughts on it, really, unless I know which test was used. (WHO or Kruger)
I just wanted to reply and tell you that I am in the exact same place as you right now. Just found out two days ago that IVF may be our only option, as DH's morphology is 0-1%. (He's had two tests.) I bawled harder than I have in years. We have chosen not to do IVF, but we haven't decided what we will do yet. Just wanted you to know you're not the only one.

Its kind of difficult determining anything from the semen analysis. We have been dealing with abnormal SA for quite some time so I know a little about it by now. From the numbers you put down it looks like the motility is low. What was the sperm count??? From what my RE told us motility is the ability of the sperm to move and swim. I will tell you that along with a lsc, my dh also had a very low motility and the urologist (military by the way) couldnt find anything wrong. My husband stopped drinking caffeine and energy drinks for a month and started taking a daily multi vitamin and fertility blend from GNC. Im not trying to tell anyone that it is a cure from anything, but our motility went up to almost 70% and I got my BFP and am almost 6 weeks pregnant. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Rachelle
Rachelle!!! Im so happy for you and congrats. My doctor has also told me that he does not think that the Clomid 50mg (Starting Round 1 today) will help me and DH conceive. I am also moving foward and praying in hopes that things happen for us, just like they did you and your hubby. My hubby is also only at 700,000 and they want 5 mil or above for IUI. They are very pessimistic about our approach of treatment (2 rounds of clomid 50mg w/natural intercourse, followed by IUI if unsuccesful). Thank you for your success story as it is motivating and makes me feel that there is some hope after all!!!
