Low everything... any alternatives?

We're pretty new to all of this, but my husband had bilateral undescended testicles, that weren't corrected until he was 8 years old, so we were expecting to have some difficulty getting preg after reading more about it with evil google. After two months of timed trying (I know, not long, everyone made fun of me) on Friday he was dx with low sperm count, motility and mobility.

Results:
Count: 6 mil
Morphology: 18%
Total Motile: 19 mil (normal > 60 mil)
Motility: 80% (seems right?)
Progressive sperm: 4mil (suppose to be greater than 20?)

So far, the doc wants to have another sa, and mentioned IVF, which we both think sounds too pricey. Especially when the most money all of our friends had to do was buy a $4 rum & coke. ... so anyway... we'll find out more after we go to my doc, but was curious if anyone has any experience or success with numbers similar to those using IUI?

Also what kind of concerns me, is that with such an abnormal morphology count, would that result in an abnormal child?? I would just hate to try too hard to alter nature for something that wasn't meant to be, only to have bad results, ya know? I'm leaning towards ds, but dh isn't on board with that as of now, but it's all still so new and overwhelming.

I know we'll find out more info in the few months after his second sa, but the wait just seems so loooong.

Thanks for any help!
