Exclamation Varicocele??

Hello all I am new to this board so here is a little about myself, my DH and myself have been TTC for 2 years now. My DH was diagnosed with a Varicocele on his left testicle and had surgery in March of this year to have it removed. Since then we have done 2 IUI's but his numbers werent the best the first one was 8.6 million and the second was 5.7 million. Now I have been tested up and down and everything comes back great for me but it is so fustrating when I can't do anything to help us get a . This is the first forum that I have come accross where there are others stuggeling with Male Factor Infertility. Has anyone else had experience with Varicocele removal or success?? Thank you!!

Hi and welcome!
my husband had varicocele surgery at prior to surgery, his urologist told us its a 50/50 chance.. we went and did the surgery becasue we will try anything and time of surgery his count was less than 5 million... 3 months after surgery his count went to 36 million... so i went and started preparing for my 2nd IVF.. day of my IVF his count was down to 5 million again.. and the dr told us the count fluctuates so much you just never know.. anyway that IVF didnt work.. so after no caffeine, taking strovite vitamins (RX only) lose pants etc... we prepared for our 3rd IVF and his count was down to 1 million.... we now have 2 beautiful twin girls.. we did IVF/ICSI... it only takes one!!! good luck!

Varicele Surgery & Morphology?

By any chance did the varicocele surgery result in better morphology? Is morphology a concern for you? My husband has a varicocele too and the urologist didn’t recommend having a correction surgery just to improve fertility since our real limiting factor is probably my dh’s 1% normal morphology. My husband’s count and motility is marginal but shouldn’t keep us from getting a BFP with IUI.

I know what you mean about it being frustrating because there is only so much you can do when faced with male-factor infertility! I am the one being poked and prodded with daily injections and all too frequent ultrasounds. I can barely get my dh to take his daily vitamins and postpone the enjoyment of a little cold beer! I am really hoping everything I am doing and refraining from doing will make me super fertile and it will all work out!

Another varicocele success story here too. We have been pregnant four times although only one pregnancy resulting in two real live babies.

My DH's counts have fluctuated form as low as 7 mill to 15 mill at his last count.

He had the sugery as well as saw a homeopathic practioner. I believe that both contributed to his counts, morphology and motility being corrected somewhat. We did use IVF/ICSI to concieve our, now eight month old, twin boys.

Good luck!

DH just had his varicocele surgery today. He is sore, but seems to be doing okay. I feel bad for him. I really hope this works, as we don't plan on doing IVF. His doctor seems optimistic. Of course, we won't know for sure until 6 months from now, unless we get pregnant before then.

10/09--DH's varicocele surgery successful! Now we wait to see if SA improves. Next SA 1/10.

we just found out this week that my DH has a varicocele, too.....the urologist explained it that the bulging vein (similar to a varicose vein) causes the testicles to overheat that impacts sperm motility, morphology and production. IMO, although there are no gurantees, it seems that it may/should help morphology!

I feel like I owe it to you guys to say that my hubby has a varicocele that impacted his morphology more than anything but was border-line on count and motility and we just found out we were expecting after one round of IUI with injectibles so don't feel like you guys have to jump straight to the IVF! IUI can work!
