My husband has seen a urologist twice for male factor infertility -- possibly has a blockage & definately has "dry ejaculation" or retrograde ejaculation. The Dr. gave him 2 different presciptions to try and did a ultrasound of his scrotum.
My question is should he continue to go to the Urologist (next appt. in December) and go from there or should we go to a fertility clinic/reproductive specialist now? The urologist did mention to my DH that if the Rx doesn't do the trick, may have to have IVF/ ICSI in the future. Am I just impatient?? I'm really tired of waiting!! What would you do? |

Questions for Kayaker
Hello!
You didn't say how long you've been trying or how old you are. If you're in your late 30s, you might want to see a specialist just to make sure you don't have any problems on your own. You could also get a second opinion or have the doctor confer with your husband's doctor if you're worried about his treatment protocol. People get second opinions about other stuff all the time. At least if you ask, then you'll either get the right treatment or the peace of mind that he's already getting the right treatment. Good luck! |

OP here -- I am 33, DH 43. We have been trying 4 years, but he was overseas for 6 months, then had a job working out of town 4 days a week - so basically, we had timing problems!
I've had my hormones checked & a hysterosalpingogram so far and everything is fine. Since his next urologist appt. is less than a month away, I guess we'll wait & see what he says before continuing.... I'm just not sure the urologist is doing all he can. Just feels like he is saying "well, try this drug for a few months and see what happens.... Ok, try this one....." We'll see what he says next time. |
