Did you get a chance to view this page? Though I'm no specialist, I did study how to perform a SA in college. My (unprofessional) opinion: out of 156 sperm that were viewed/counted on a microscope, which is normally viewed on a grid to make it easier to count. I believe it also means you have 156 Million sperm per mL of sample ( times 5mL’s given gives you about 750 Million sperm. 30% of them were moving in a straight line (ie able to make it to the target). Others may have been moving, but we all know where going in a circle will lead you. This page says 50% is good, so your a little challenged hear, but not impossible. Your WBC is low (good, not fighting off an infection) Your Morphology (normal looking sperm) is 61% of 156 counted, which again the link above says 50% is good, so your ok there. All the other morphologies mean they have abnormailities (this is very NORMAL for these to occur). Only One has to make it the egg. Ie…If they have no tail, they can’t swim, if they have an abnormal head, they have various issues and won’t generally fertilize the egg. You have viable sperm that can travel. You can also have your sperm “delivered” to the egg in various maners if they can’t make it on their own, or you have other factors with your partner. Again, I’m not a professional, but I hope this helps. (Its been a couple of years since I’ve done this, so if I’m anyone see’s that I’m wrong, PLEASE correct me.) Rollerbladenut is correct in reading what they mean - but my one concern is that count...that is AMAZING...I mean WOW! My RE says the ideal donor has a count of 60 mil, so your DH has an amzing county.
I suggest getting in contact with RE and talking to them about the count. They can really get specific and put your mind at ease. Good luck! |
