Where do we go from here?

My wife and I have been trying for over 2 years to no avail. Her doctors are all saying that she might have PCOS. They put her on 1500mg of Metformin. After a lot of stomach issues, she seems to be tolerating well.

We switched OB/GYNs about 3 months ago. He has a much more positive outlook on everything. He suggested that I be tested. I went to the local CORM office. The test revealed that I only had 50,000 sperm and they were all "dead". I was referred to a urologist. He checked the FSH and LH levels and all were normal.

After the physical exam, he said that I had a very small vas coming from my left testicle. He ordered another test which I completed this morning.

I am really scared. What does this mean? Where do we go from here? I guess I need a little encouragement.

It is very scary, my husband has low counts and low motility. I am not sure about the Vas issue, did they do a cat scan and check all your hormones, etc...

You can ask if diet and exercise may help you, it did help another couple I know going through this.

Try and wait and see what your Urologist says about this and then go from there. We did IUI's and IVF, but now we may go onto donor sperm, but don't think about all of this just yet, just so you know you have options.

Take care and make sure you do at least 3 sperm Analysis before you go any further..

Hello,

I don't know about the vas, but the urologist may need to do a testicular biopsy. He can find out if any sperm are still living. Even if all are "Dead" you can still get pregnant via IVF with ICSI.

I agree with the previous poster. Wait and see what the urologist says, and I'll be praying your wife gets pregnant soon!

and good luck on your IF journey. Going to a specialist is the first step. Once all of the testing is done you should know more what options are available. I hope everything works out for you and your wife!!!
