Ok. Here's the update...
I went to the male infertility specialist in Houston and underwent quite a battery of tests. The team of doctors have concluded that I have small vericoceles and a suspected narrowing of the seminal vescicles. They are wanting to perform 2 procedures to try to correct the low count/low motility issues. The cost is quite high - $20,000 to $25,000. WHEW!! We just don't know which way to go. I don't feel that surgery is an option right now. Do we try IUF? What do we do? My counts are very erratic at this point. One time, I had 114. This last time I only had 9. It just doesn't make sense. I am not panicing at this point. I just wish I knew which path to take. They sound so unsure that the surgery will work. I suppose that they are equally as unsure that IUF will work. Any advice out there? Neal www.myspace.com/jnealp1 |

My suggestion? Maybe for now avoid the surgeries and go straight for a Testicular Biopsy. They can extract your sperm that way. If you combine that with IVF with ICSI (Where they actually inject the sperm into the eggs for you) then you don't need massive quantities of swimmers, you only need to find enough to fertilize the eggs.
Good luck with your decision.

I agree with Anna we did ICSI with our IVF and were able to have 8 become embyos out of 9 mature eggs. We did not have to have the Testicular Biopsy but I believe there are a couple of other people on this site who have had this done. Hopefully they will be able to give you some more answers on that procedure.
Good luck to you
