Hi. I am new to this site, but not to IF. DH and I have been ttc since 12/02. WIth DH's last SA (which was about 1.5 years ago), once we took out the percentage that was bad, he has aout 1 million sperm that are good (20 million we were told was the low end of normal). To top that off, I also have PCOS, so we have been hit with a double-wammy. I am looking forward to getting ot know you all.

Liz, welcome to the forum. I'm also 26 and Dh and I started trying in December 2002 after being married for 6 months. We also dealt with male factor infertility. Has your husband seen a urologist regarding his SA? There are things that can be done to improve count, motility, morphology, etc. For us we started using Fertility Blend from GNC this year. We were told that since morphology was our issue there wasn't much of anything we could do but try IVF and when that failed we just about gave up. After four years, all our fertility treatments failed and we were left broke, hurt and torn. We opted to take this year off, try naturally and save for adoption. We started the Fertility Blend in January and found ourselves pregnant in early March and were completely shocked. Unfortunately it was ectopic and ended a few weeks later. We started taking the Fertility Blend again in April and took it until June now here we are! So it might be something for you guys to look into. They have a men and women formula and recommend that both partners take it together for three cycles for optimal results. However, talk to your doctors first.

Welcome! My DH and I have the "double whammy" factor too. He started taking zinc and l carnitine supplements a year ago and it greatly improved the quality over three months. I have advanced maternal age, endo, poor egg quality and low reserve and look at my signature! Good luck!

! I too have pcos and my DH has issues with his sperm as well. We found that with taking vitamins, eating healthier and not wearing undies to bed, this improved his count and the number of deformed ones for around 1 year. His last SA came back bad again so now he's on Menevit which is a blend of vitamins and minerals specifically designed to improve male fertility. We have another IUI on the 2nd January so we'll see then if this has helped. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are going!

Welcome! DH & I are in a similiar situation. We are starting our 3rd IVF cycle January/February. Remember, it only takes one good sperm and one good egg. Just one... DH, is he taking l-carnitine as a supplment along with fish oil, zinc, mulitvitamin? Our acupuncturist started DH on them right away along with a kidney essence herb (capsule form). We are both having acupuncture to help get us ready for this upcoming cycle (I never thought I would do something like this but I absolutely love my sessions as does DH who does not like needles)! ha ha.

Try to keep your stress to a minimum and keep the lines of communication open between you and DH. Best of luck to you!

Jen~When did you guys get married? We were married 5-18-02. Also, how much is the fertility blend that you are taking? Maybe, if it's not too expensive, I can get dh to start taking it to help.

Susan~What do the zinc and l carnitine do for the sperm? Also, how much is your dh taking? Are they expensive?
