Hello, my name is Tara my husband and I have been ttc for 15 months. We just found out last month that my husband has low sperm count ( 12million) low mobility, low everything that can be low. We have an appointment with a fertility specialist Tuesday, just wondering what we should expect. Thank you for your time.

well my husband had a low sperm count of 12 million on the first semen analysis then he went to a urologist. he had to do another semen analysis and they examined him. the second semen analysis his count was at 10 million. he just had a low count everything else was normal. so the urologist put him on clomid for 3 months and at our last appt. his count was up to 20 million and motility and morphology even improved. the normal sperm count is 20 million to 150. so he has to stay on this medication until i get pregnant. everything will be okay! ive been going through everything that u have been going through and im finally getting more hope. good luck!

Hi Tara, welcome. I wouldn't get too upset right away (easier said then done). They will most definitely want a repeat SA. If the problem is low sperm count and motility, there are some options that are not so invasive that may help you along. My husband has ok count, slightly low motility, but 0% normally shaped sperm. We had a special test done to determine if his sperm can fertilize an egg on it's own. We are still waiting for those results. Good luck w/ your appt. At least it not that far off!

Hi!
My name is Jason, and it sounds like I have the same situation as your DH. I was totally freaked out by my first appointment with the RE, but its not bad at all. Basically, they are going to run a number of tests to try to determine whats causing the low count. Most likely, they will do some blood work to test testosterone levels, etc and also do a physical exam to try to identify any varicoceles or abnormalities. My only peice of advice is to ask a ton of questions! Don't be shy...ask anything you'd like! Good luck...let us know if you have any questions! J
