Question about motility

We just got back DHs 2nd SA results. I didn't get his #s on the first one, but was wondering if this sounded normal. The nurse said his numbers were fine:
175 mil sperm count
48% motility
still waiting for results on morphology.

I was reading online that you need at least 60% motilty to be normal BUT if you have a very high sperm count that 60% doesn't matter as much.

The nurse said when you take the motility into consideration he really has a sperm count of 84 million. Does this sound right?

goodness gracious!!! what are you feeding that boy? 175 million!!!! wow!! since anything over 20mil is considered "normal" by WHO and 60-120mil is what our dr says is normal, i would think that if you cut the 175 in half and you only had, what, 88mil motile...that if you look at it that way, you have 88mil w/ 100% motility. that sounds better, huh? i agree w/ the nurse that you should look at it that way. (are ya'll taking supplements or anything? a magic pill? please, please, please, let it be a magic pill... )

My DH just had a SA done today. His count was 126mil with 42% forward motility but 90-some% were mobile. Basically majority of them were moving but 42% of them were moving forward, which is what matters the most b/c those are the ones that move forward into the uterus and tubes. His last count was 63mil with 42% forward motility and our RE was happy with both his SAs. It sounds like your DH's SA is great!!!

Thanks girls. I didn't talk to the nurse myself, so I was getting the info second handfrom DH. The info I was finding online was so confusing. They all kept saying it has to be 50-60% motility to be normal. I guess the count makes up for the motility. Wait til I tell DH he has super sperm. I thought 175 mil sounded like a lot. And btw-he's not taking any supplements. Still waiting on the morphology results.
