Your fertility story...

Hi everyone,

I am a freelance writer based in Orlando, Florida, who is working on an infertility book with an RE here (in Winter Park, Fla - Dr. Mark Trolice) .

We are looking for a) patient perspectives/stories to weave in throughout the book (that's the part I am working on) - it will meld together with what the doctor is writing.... and b) what YOU all would like to see in a new fertility book - something you haven't yet seen or a tone/type of book you haven't yet come across.

Please email me ASAP - as little or as much as you would like. I can put you in touch with the doctor's office to confirm I am not a kook (his Web site is www.myfertilitycare.com). We won't be using names -- maybe first name, last initial and city you live in.

I myself an traveling to China sometime in December to adopt our little girl and the physician and I are trying to get the bulk of the book done before I leave.

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Doyle

I would like to share my story!
a) I'm 24 years old, I have been with my high school sweetheart since I was 16. I always knew that we were going to have fertility issues since my husband had surgery on his testicles as a child, he was told he may not be able to have children. To our surprise, we got pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in 2002. About a year and a half-2 years later we started to try for our second thinking that everything was obviously okay... wrong. I was diagnosed this year in 2007 with PCOS while my husband was diagnosed with low sperm counts, low motility and morphology counts as well. This was double-infertility. After 6 months of taking clomid and a week of taking birth control pills, my irregular cycles were finally back on track, moving forward to taking injectible medication (Menopur and Bravelle), which I took for 4 cycles. I was also taking Fortamet to help lose weight and to ease the PCOS. We went through 4 cycles of IUI's and finally got pregnant!!! We are due April 19th, 2008.

B) I would like to see more OB doctors who deal with infertility... facts on how to find a great OB doctor. I would like to see thereapists and other professionals who can help cope with fertility issues instead of offering medication to "cure" pain. In general, doctors who are willing to do something instead of saying, "Oh! you have PCOS, but you knew that already, right?" and actually do something about it. I want to know coping techniques that we can work on our own.

I wrote this on another thread but wanted to bump this again for more people to read. I am a patient of Dr. Trolice and luckily one of his success stories.

He is amazing and his team- everyone in the office is wonderful. I feel the way about him the way I do everyone on this board. Each memeber is nothing short of exceptional. If you can participate, do.

I'd be happy to share my story too.

I would like to see more about what the long term effects of all these fertility medications are having on our bodies. And about what is being done to make every state a mandated state.

I'd be willing to share my story too. I agree with Jen and would like to see more about legislation and getting all states to be fertility friendly and learning more about exactly what to expect during your treatment cycle (i.e., what are E2 levels and what should mine be, P4 levels, size follicles should be for IUIs). I recently moved from fertility friendly NJ to non-friendly Florida. Not only do I not have coverage now, but the number of REs in the area I live in is very limited and you feel trapped (I live in Pensacola). Please PM me and I'll get back to you with my contact information.

Stephanie- I would love to share my journey with you and the world. I have sent you a private message. Please feel free to email me. I would also like Oprah to read your book so she can become a bit more educated before she tries to do another show about what IF is NOT about!
Thanks, Susan!
